Isn’t this what is known as an “ex post factor” law and illegal to enact?

You can’t make a law making something illegal and prosecute someone for violating that law before it was enacted

The same letter went out to hardened, violent criminals, right? They are going to march right in to the state police office and turn over their guns, right?

Truth: there is no desire on the part of the leftists to take guns from violent criminals. They do plan to do everything they can to seize all guns from non-violent, law-abiding citizens.

If this isn’t satire then I can’t imagine Connecticut citizens sitting idly by. If they are not making a run on the Capital and burning it to the ground I would be surprised.

Who cares anymore? Nothing will be done to stop them. And if someone actually tries to hold government back, there is no one supporting them as they’re denigrated and chastised
It’s a joke and I’m getting ready to give it up cause no one has the gumption to stand up and say “ no more”.

Anything ( not just constitutionally- protected things like arms) they know you have ......they can try to take away from you. You’re dealing with government, after all. What more explanation is
Required??

“Isn’t this what is known as an “ex-post-facto” law and illegal to enact?”

Somewhere in the Constitution it says,
“Congress shall pass no ex-post-facto laws or bills of attainder.”

It seems to fit the definition of un-constitutional, but these gun-grabbers really don’t care about a constitution of “negtive liberties”, as described by the President.

We live in scary times.

IMHO

I'm sure their position would be that once it became illegal you didn't turn it over to a police department, render it inoperable, or sell it to a licensed gun dealer, so they'd only worry about getting you for the "felony" after their law was enacted, not the part "before".

Therefore, with what you concern yourself at this point is moot.

HAHAHAHA!!!!!!

So people who tried to register their guns late are now worse off than those who didnt register them at all?

LOL!

Clear demonstration that when governments obtain knowlege of gun ownership, they quickly move to use that knowlege to take them away.

It’s going to get VERY interesting if/when CT tries to enforce confiscation. I mean, do the cops refuse to comply before, or after, they get met with the regrettable (and i mean that - this is all totally unnecessary) but inevitable incidents of armed resistance that will occur?

I’d put money on the cops refusing to comply.

Wiki says ex post facto enforcement of new laws is unconstitutional .

That doesn’t necessarily make it illegal in Connecticut.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ex_post_facto_law

That said, I think this is a prank— it just teeters over the edge of credibility.

I gotta say, I absolutely admire the way the left follows the law to the letter...when it serves their purposes. The law said to register NLT January 1, 2014, and that’s exactly what the liberal left is sticking to.

Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare, start dates or terms? Eh, not so much. The law is very fluid whenever a leftist disagrees with it, even in cases where they take an OATH to uphold the law. If necessary, the left simply ignores anything it doesn’t like, much like criminals.

And leftists wonder why we conservatives despise them so. I can honestly agree to disagree with liberals and follow mutually agreed upon rules so long as we BOTH play by them, but they do NOT play fair (even though they adore that word). It’s like playing Monopoly with someone who changes the rents and seizes your properties whenever they want.

I think this is one reason why Republicans always seem to lose against the left. Republicans, even RINOs, apparently try to play by the rules, but winning is the only thing that matters to our political enemies. They never give up until they get their way. At some point we gotta say enough of that crap and start using their same tactics against them.

“Anything ( not just constitutionally- protected things like arms) they know you have ......they can try to take away from you.”

And this is exactly why gun owners resist gun registration so much. If it’s registered, they will come to take it. It’s not a matter for debate, because the left doesn’t hide the fact that total gun confiscation is the end game. That’s what they really want. Registration is just a means to an end.

The people violated the law by not registering their firearms before Jan 1, 2014. An ex post facto law would be making a law retroactive to a date before it was enacted.

So now, no bluster, no BS...what are the gun owners of CT going to do? What are they going to do when their local LEO's come breaking down their neighbor's door at 2am to confiscate this now illegal weapon? What are they going to do when these gun owners start getting pulled over while in their car on their way home from work, while their families are not around?

This will continue right up to the point that the powers that be realize that we will not go quietly into the night.

Additionally what are the LEO's of CT going to do when they get that order to go break down that door at 2AM and pull over the guy whose only crime is owning a formerly legal firearm.

Ultimately it is up to all of us to stand together or else we'll surely hang separately....I think I've heard something like that before...
