Why is the Obama Administration Putting Government Monitors in Newsrooms?

The Obama Administration’s Federal Communication Commission (FCC) is poised to place government monitors in newsrooms across the country in an absurdly draconian attempt to intimidate and control the media.

Before you dismiss this assertion as utterly preposterous (we all know how that turned out when the Tea Party complained that it was being targeted by the IRS), this bombshell of an accusation comes from an actual FCC Commissioner.

FCC Commissioner Ajit Pai reveals a brand new Obama Administration program that he fears could be used in “pressuring media organizations into covering certain stories.”

As Commissioner Pai explains in the Wall Street Journal:

Imagine a Republican president (if one is ever elected again) maintaining this practice.

Fantasy, but I am having a fond memory of what happened to the political officer in The Hunt for Red October.

The news media has been progressively friendly since the Viet Nam war, so now the progressives are placing political officers in the news rooms?

They had a panel discussion on Greta last night on this but Greta was the only one who got it. The others said, “Oh that will never really happen,” yada yada. And Greta would say,”That’s not the point! Who came up with this in the first place?”

Then the others would try to calm the waters with the “this is too ridiculous to take seriously” BS.

I suppose the political officers going to Fox News or the Rush Limbaugh show will be sent from Media Matters...

“Why am I having a difficult in finding the list of eight categories?”

“How does the FCC plan to dig up all that information? First, the agency selected eight categories of “critical information” such as the “environment” and “economic opportunities,” that it believes local newscasters should cover. It plans to ask station managers, news directors, journalists, television anchors and on-air reporters to tell the government about their “news philosophy” and how the station ensures that the community gets critical information.

The FCC also wants to wade into office politics. One question for reporters is: “Have you ever suggested coverage of what you consider a story with critical information for your customers that was rejected by management?” Follow-up questions ask for specifics about how editorial discretion is exercised, as well as the reasoning behind the decisions.”

Congress, under the Bonehead and Cantor, will not allow funding for such an unconstitutional scheme. (sarc)

AJC reported this morning on the plan, which is quickly drawing criticism
as a possible infringement on the freedom of the press."

Where is it, in the context of the previous actions of 'OVER REACH' as demonstrated by this administration,
a " possible infringement on the freedom of the press."
It is a blatent violation of the First Amendment Rights given by God , and not reserved to the government .

Our Federal government is chewing up one Constitutional Right one bite at a time ; Wake up America !
Our government is already arresting media reporters , especially 'whistle-blowers' for sources of leaks in government embaressments.
The Federal govenrnment calls them 'Monitors' ; more appropriate is this is the beginning of Orwellian "Government Group-Speak ".
"Monitors" is only one 'over-reach' from Government control.

Thanx, but I've seen all of that.(link is blocked)

I don't understand why the list has not been distributed if this is such a good idea. They need to get Sgt. Schultz proclaiming this is a great way to Lean Forward.

They’re not doing anything because they’re a bunch of whimpering metrosexuals and they’re scared!

The elimination of Michael Hastings might cause a strong man to pause to consider.

The bigger question is: Why would the Obama administration feel a need to monitor, intimidate media outlets that have been lapdogs for him for years?

“Why is the Obama Administration Putting Government Monitors in Newsrooms?”

Simple answer. Because who the hell is going to stop the Obama Regime from shredding the Constitution? John Boehner? Eric Cantor? Kevin McCarthy? Mitch McConnell? John Cornyn?

Give me a break!
