Time to primary every single one of these a**hats:
House Republicans told Obama at the White House that they could reopen the federal government by early next week if the president and Senate Democrats agree to their debt-ceiling proposal. After the debt ceiling is lifted, a House GOP aide said they would seek some additional concessions in a government funding bill.Obama repeatedly pressed House Republicans to open the government, asking them whats it going to take to end the shutdown, those sources said. He questioned why the government should remain closed if both sides agreed to engage in good-faith negotiations on the budget, according to a Democratic source briefed on the meeting
Obama agreed to review the House Republican proposal for reopening the government, but reiterated that he wouldnt pay a ransom, the Democratic source said.
Obamacare?
The whole reason tea-party groups like Heritage Action were okay with a short-term debt-ceiling hike is because, in theory, it cleared the way to re-focus on stopping ObamaCare by digging in on the shutdown. Instead, evidently, Republicans are ready to end the shutdown for a month or more in order to initiate broader negotiations with the White House. Which means that, contra tea partiers wishes, discussions over the shutdown and the debt ceiling will end up being merged after all. Which in turn means defunding/delaying ObamaCare, if its not off the table already, is likely headed for the shelf as the parties focus on deficit reduction instead.
The RINO's have caved and now what do we get in return?
In exchange, they sought a commitment by the president to negotiate a deal for long-term deficit reduction and a tax overhaul.
A commitment to negotiate.
Just when you thought the RINO's couldn't get more spineless they surprise you.
And now we got Boehner to negotiate a budget deal once more. It worked out quite well a few years ago:

I have made the point elsewhere on the site that the strategy the Democrats have used and gotten away with over the last seven years of failing to approve or put forward a budget for the budget process has put them in the postition where some sort of CR is required each period regardless.
Our stop-gap has been attachments to the CRs and not an earlier insistance upon following the modern era Congressional Budget process. Once they got past two years of this game, we should have shut down the whole house as soon as we were able and enforced the Budget process.
Instead we find ourselves in a game of brinkmanship to attach one or two little bandaids to a CR we have failed to fight when we should have and are now just flailing about as we watch the country go down the drain. Do we really think that daring Obama to captain the wreck of the federal ship is something he is not wishing for an excuse to execute? That is the whole purpose of their scheme. This is their Briar Patch moment they want us to hold the line.
Cloward-Piven is not that difficult a read.
I truly believe this is part of the GOPe strategy where they think conservatives will leave the Republican Party to their control yet still vote Republican in the general elections. We need to prove them wrong and take the fight to the primaries at EVERY level of government, leaving them with no choice in the general elections.
How long did it take the USSR to collapse?
I’m so mad I obviously can’t type straight.
If true; I say WE DESTROY THESE RINOS IN 2014 Starting with Boehner, McConnell, Graham (Just to punish McCain), etc..
Who’s for a new march on Washington, D.C. (like 2009)?
They can’t end the shutdown. It’s a Democrat shutdown. Ending it is entirely on Obama and Reid.
But this is what they intended to get from it.
Time to get on the phones and on the email. We cannot allow this sellout to go down.
It should, but I am doubtful it will. Two things have to happen: Boehner gets tossed out, and must be replaced by a Trey Gowdy. This is not the way the GOPe does things, so if Boehner get's challenged, he'll be replaced by Cantor and we get nothing.
You may well be right. Cut off all funding for the Republican Party. Money is the only thing they understand.
The Republicans caved.
Wow, there’s a shocker.
I’m hoping Obastard overplays his hand and refuses the deal.
Why don’t we wait and see if this evolves out of the “rumor” stage......
If the beltway GOP won’t fight an engaged battle over obamacare now, they never will. The Senate GOP preemptively surrendered. The House lasted a week before apparently surrendering. The RNC, NRCC and NRSC never did a damn thing during this debate. Plenty of the beltway GOP seem to be quite comfortable with obamacare.
Money has already dried up from the conservative grassroots. They’re getting funding from a few powerful people who don’t want to shrink the gummint, they want it to stay big and *they* get a chance to run it for awhile. Think Karl Rove and Crossroads.
Right - what I was hoping for was a plan from the ‘real’ GOP... the Tea Party wing, for lack of a better term. No enough of them available to prevent this... yet.
You mean like the last three rumors of a cave? What fun was that?
(Kidding aside, often these “rumors” are really trial balloons, and they need to be shot down ASAP.)
And at every election we grow .Gov.
If the offer is as reported I don’t think that even Obama is dumb enough to refuse it...hell I almost feel like he’d have just a split second of sympathy for what is going to happen to the GOP as he announces it.
Unbelievable.
As a trial balloon, we do need to slap it down!!!
