Obama Administration Caught in Open Lie About Needing to Close Memorials
LibertyNews.com ^ | October 3, 2013 | Eric Odom

The Obama administration has deployed an army of feds to barricade public AND private parks, memorials and statues in the name of a government shutdown. Clearly this move is calculated with the intent to project pain upon the American people, with the hope they will rebuke Republicans and force a clean CR.

The Obama administration is actually telling a lie when they say they cannot avoid barricading sidewalks that pass memorials. This is obvious in that it actually costs money to create the barricades, whereas it costs nothing to leave them out of the way. But it goes beyond that… War Memorials have NEVER been closed off during a shutdown.

Via Daily Caller.

Although President Obama claims that he can’t avoid shutting down public sites and monuments, war memorials were in fact kept open during the 1995/1996 government shutdowns. The administration’s decision to barricade the Lincoln Memorial marks the first time in its history the memorial has been totally off limits to visitors during a shutdown.

The administration has also balked at efforts by non-governmental groups to maintain access to public sites. (Related: RNC offers to pay to keep WWII memorial open)

But during the Clinton-era shutdown, World War II veterans kept the Pearl Harbor memorial open.

When an Obama official says it cannot be avoided, he/she is telling a lie. And that’s a shame.

The rest of the title is: (Hint: War Memorials Have Always Remained Open in Past Shutdowns)

Also Commissaries on US military bases were never closed

It IS a shame, but it is also "business as usual". There are very few things Obama mal-Administration officials say that are NOT lies.

Obama has now ordered all government park ‘Scenic Overlooks’ be barricaded to the public.

“Due to the government shutdown, the National Park Service has barricaded the overlooks. According to a spokeswoman, the area falls under NPS jurisdiction and is subject to the same rules as hundreds of other closed parks and memorials. She added that because Congress has not appropriated any funds to the NPS, the agency can’t maintain the areas, collect trash or sweep road debris.”

People should just drag off the barricades.

Either the Feds respond, proving that they have the resources to keep them open if they chose, OR the Feds do nothing.

Win-Win.

A petulant bullying narcissist and his thugocracy prove themselves once again. The sad part is that more than 50% of voting Americans appear to want this sort of thuggery, and the media worship this crap!

I know where I'm going hunting when wrol arrives.

Those barricades need to be tossed off of the scenic overviews. Point made.

They obviously don’t need to be shut down. He is adamant about closing them down because he wants to shove the ‘shutdown’ in our faces and affect the normal people the most.

Ya think he’d stop sending billions to his jihadi buddies? No, they are important and he loves them. Americans, Christians, Jews, veterans, Republicans, producers, them he hates.

Sarah Palin: ‘Barrycades’ at WWII Memorial

Sarah Palin has a nickname for the person she blames for barricades around the national World War II monument: “Barrycades.”

In a post on her Facebook page, titled “My Call For Civil Disobedience Around The ‘Barrycades,’” Palin blamed President Barack Obama for shutting down the memorial and others as a publicity stunt.

“It’s beyond shameful to see Barack Obama disrespect and mistreat our World War II veterans so blatantly. Obama’s political stunt to ‘shut down’ their memorial by barricade is to elicit an angry response to generate bad publicity for people the president uses in his continual blame game,” Palin wrote on Wednesday.

Palin posted a link to a picture on Twitter of a single piece of fencing around the World War I memorial in contrast.

“The difference is obvious. There aren’t any World War I veterans alive today to mistreat in a shameful political stunt. He’s deployed more guards to bar our World War II heroes from their memorial than he sent to Benghazi when our consulate was under attack,” Palin said.

Its the Chicago Way. Thugocracy.

But they may be over playing their hand. Stunts like the WWII memorial closing are backfiring.

Republicans need to stand firm. Putin showed what a weak and feckless clown Obama really is.
