Innocent Victims of Gun Control: The Eagle Scout

I would like for you to meet Cole Withrow. In addition to being an Eagle Scout, Cole is an honors student and high school senior in Johnson County North Carolina … at least he was until recently.

Now, he is charged with a felony, expelled from school weeks before graduation, and sees his college plans crumbling since he will not be allowed to graduate.

All of the hard work he has put into becoming a successful member of society is threatened.

Cole is the epitome of what I am talking about when I say that gun control does nothing more than victimize the innocent.

So what did Cole do to deserve a virtual death penalty on his future? Did he kill someone in cold blood? Did he blow up a building?

No … it was far worse than that (at least in the viewpoint of modern academia) … he went skeet shooting and forgot to remove his shotgun from the vehicle before going to school.

Well … perhaps he was showing the gun around at school or handling it? Nope. Once Cole realized what he had inadvertently done, he secured the shotgun and phoned his mother to come and get the vehicle.

But he was overheard by a school employee who promptly called the police.

The rest, as they say, is simply a matter of zero-tolerance …. no intent required.

To illustrate the hypocrisy even further, it has been noted that two years ago, Cole’s assistant Principal Catherine Bennett brought a gun in her car onto school campus. To make matters worse, her car was being worked on by the auto mechanics class and the gun was found by students who handed it around before hiding it under the fender of the car.

So Cole will be joining Bennett in prison? Nope. Bennett did not face criminal charges because she said that she did not know the gun was in the car.

School officials claim that this is because the law is different where students and teachers are concerned. Now … I have not yet reviewed the statutes but a general rule of constitutional law is that differing classes of citizens may not be subject to differing punishments for the same criminal act.

Any objective observer will immediately see that this whole thing stinks of hypocrisy, double standards, and zero tolerance ran amuck. Ultimately, it all goes back to the true aim of gun control … to make people so afraid of the consequences of even inadvertent acts that they will simply give up their rights rather than attempt to comply. It is intended to have a very chilling effect indeed.

When next you hear a Democrat call for ‘reasonable restrictions’ think of Cole and what he and his family have lost.

So what can you do for Cole?

- Contact the Johnson County School Board and let them know what you think of their actions. - Contact the Johnston County DA Susan Doyle via email Susan.I.Doyle@nccourts.org or telephone (919) 209-5521 and ask her to immediately drop the charges against Cole. - Sign this petition that is going to the School Board. - Sign this petition to the Governor. - Keep up with the #FreeCole campaign at their Facebook page.

The ‘Innocent Victims of Gun Control‘ series of articles details the effects of gun control policies on law abiding citizens and exposes the lie that gun control is only aimed at criminals.

This is simply heartbreaking. And the fact that it is happening in North Carolina should make state residents ashamed.

Don’t get me started . . . Cole Withrow epitomizes what America needs right now.

What will the LSM show in their reports . . . a picture of Cole when he was 10 years old or will they drag out some picture of him at his worst?

Gawd I hate the media!

This is a direct result of the disastrous Gun Free School Zone act of 1996, pushed onto the American people by Bill Clinton.

School administrators zealously push “zero tolerance” because they are afraid that their funding will be cut if they are found *not* to have pushed it.

This is what they want. The anti-gunners WANT someone’s life to be ruined for an innocent mistake. They want ot make it so onerous that the average schmoe won’t want to foll with a gun. Anti-gunners are evil. The cannot be reasoned with. Reason didn’t enter into this incident. they cannot be bagained with. After all they aren’t willing to give anything up, and they have nothing to lose and nothing to give anyway. Gun control fails to pass? What have they lost? Nothing. They feel no pity - Think they’ll take pity on this guy? Not a chance screw him to the full extent of the unconstitutional law. They feel no remorse. When they’ve taken away someone’s rights, they feel a sense of elation , not remorse. And they never quite ever. They will only stop when: 1. “We have a country where only the police and the military are armed.” Oft stated goal of the Brady bunch. 2. All gun owners are killed resisting arrest or 3. The anti-gunners and their jackbooted gestapo are killed.

Don’t vent it all here! Contact the DA, the school board, superintendent and let everyone know. Put the heat on them, and the spotlight might just cause them to blink.

Overheard by a school employee.

Pimp—POS—should have been minding their own business.

Lets name this POS so all of the kids know who this low life Mother lover is.

This slime should be shunned for the rest of it’s life.
It should have adults ignoring it wherever it goes.

Both political parties passed VAWA legislation to cross that bridge by outlawing a large subgroup—the first big step on the way to outlawing the Second Amendment in a class war of selective enforcement.

The Emerson Case
http://www.ejfi.org/emerson.htm

Outlawed subgroups and their relatives and friends are not very supportive of the rights of others. That’s why it’s very important to repeal all anti-Second-Amendment laws, defeat all kinds of anti-Second-Amendment bills and generally avoid compromises.

Campaigns for new legislation by way of heart-rending anecdotes about rare incidents are dangerous to our nation and have been ruining it slowly for decades (no-fault divorce, laws for prosecuting accidents as criminal acts, laws for prosecuting offenses against pretended delicate and immoral sensitivities, etc.

We’ve been seeing a long-term movement toward rule by a few constituents hiding in the shadows while controlling politicians, sponsoring most media and so on.

I truly believe that these strict-liability laws are a) unconstitutional and b) designed to scare people so badly that they will voluntarily give up their rights. :(

Some of the real culprits are probably on the school board and behind the local judicial choices. Those who are criticized will likely never reveal who their masters are (favored local constituents).

Exactly. The NRA is now reporting that the school system has somewhat backed down and is offering Cole the opportunity to attend one of the ‘alternative’ schools so he can graduate. I suspect that public pressure has a LOT to do with that.
