Jennifer Carroll was the first female elected Lt. Governor of Florida and the firs African-American elected statewide in 2010. For the past two years, you couldn't find her picture or any articles on her in the media, including a total blackout during the campaign of 2010 when her running mate Rick Scott was elected governor. But now that she's mired in some kind of controversy, the media comes out of the woodwork to cover her. Think it has something to do with the fact that she's a black Republican? Of course, the media is only interested in Republican scandals.

The loathsome Humane Society of the US gives only 1% of its revenue to actually helping animals, but it isn’t being covered by a quivering media. Perhaps because Carroll is a black, Republican, military veteran? Nah... that would be unfair. /S

Some kind of controversy? $290 million ain't chicken feed.

Here's what the article says:
Carroll's resignation was announced Wednesday, one day after she gave her resignation letter to Scott. His chief of staff, Adam Hollingsworth, said her resignation was spurred by an investigation into the Allied Veterans of the World.

Officials from that non-profit internet cafe company were recently arrested on racketeering charges. The owner was arrested Tuesday in connection to allegations that he made $290 million after supplying illegal gambling software in Florida and claiming the games' proceeds would benefit a veterans group. Authorities also interviewed Carroll. Carroll's ties to the company were questioned when she was in the Legislature when she proposed a bill that would benefit Internet cafes.

The rule for Democrats is “innocent until proven guilty.” (Sometimes it’s “guilty, who cares?”). I think she deserves the presumption of innocence.

Why? :( I liked her very much....wish she would have stayed on...she could have been a contender to succeed Rick Scott!

Well drat, so much for her political future. Doesn’t sound like much of a scandal but she went and resigned.

And another blow to Rick Scott’s seemingly dismal reelection chances, he really must be primaried or better yet convinced to step aside, we can’t lose Florida.
