Realization #1 - Corruption is far worse outside the USA
Realization #2 - Many cultures do not practice long-term preparedness thinking
Realization #3 - Don't be the foreigner
Realization #4 - You cannot escape the global police state
Realization #5 - You are far safer to hunker down than try to go mobile

You either stay in the 'game' and make your effort or you QUIT and walk away, but you sure don't have the right to stand around and tell others that are still in how they should play!
Where would I go, anyway?
Chile, Belize, Costa Rica
try a seasonal get-away instead. Ireland, Manitoba ...
The only place I’d even consider is Canada but it’s too damned cold!!
Australia, New Zealand ? I hear there are some parts of South America are kinda like early American west with cattle ranches and open prairies.
It all depends on how you want to live and your health and wealth.
Canada America’s great beer cooler to the north!
The questions are this.
Is there any hope for the country to return or change to what you want it to be?
Is there another country that is closer to what you are looking for?
And most importantly.
Is the life of you or your family at risk if you stay?
That is why people emigrate.
This place will probably be better post-collapse than most other places.
Stay, brace up,or hunker down, call it whatever, and fight if you have to. Most other economies are going to trash with ours.
I'd strongly suggest anyone contemplating moving to give it a try for at least 6 months...
I dislike the USA and Americans in general, and particularly dislike conservative right-wing Americans. I can't wait to leave this f..... up country!
This country will repeat the exact same cycle which other countries went through. Greece, Russia, China, etc all had thriving economies once. Then people found out they could get free stuff by voting in the socialists.
After experiencing ravages of socialism for several decades, some woke up and turned back to capitalism. China for example now has one million new millionaires and middle class is 50 times bigger than during their communist abyss.
So, I expect US to become increasingly socialist (= big gov’t), suffer economic abyss, then turn back. But not until 2040 at the earliest, more likely after 2050.
I worry about my meagher retirement account....you deny yourself over the years to save, and will be ever be able to take it out, let alone move it to another country....
Mobility is the greatest weapon we have as conservatives. When France put forth a 75% tax the wealthy fled. The only chance socialism has is to stomp out conservatism in every country. If we remain mobile we can continue to reward countries that respect freedom and enterprise. Come to Canada my American friends.
the thought of never seeing my family again would be like living in hell....
can't do it....even if I wanted to...even if I could successfully....
I’d possibly consider visiting the central and south Americas to see Boas in their natural habitat but that’s about it.
This is home.
Ain’t goin’ nowhere.
:)
I’m on the Mason/Dixon and it’s too frickin’ cold.
Canada’s not even in my top 100.
;D
Too poor and too old to move.
[hillbillies generally have to be dragged screaming off the mountain of their birth, anyway]
Amen.
My freak state is intentionally making it impossible for the ‘natives’ to keep living here, via outrageous taxes and utility prices.
They want the suburbanites to ‘resettle’ my area.
My ancestors went through the Highland Clearances and hundreds of years later, here we go again.
You don't want to be stuck in or adjacent to a big city anywhere in the world, but I think larger cities in this country could be even worse than in the third world, because those people retain some familiarity with scarcity and living in primitive conditions. Here there will be total chaos and breakdown with only a couple days of food non-delivery.
Well, I’ve got the longboat, but I need a fjord. I’ve sometimes thought of finding a lonely wilderness place on the coast in Northern Canada for the summers and sail south to pillage during the winter ;^)
Good questions...
1. Yes
2. No
3. Not at this time
I can’t think of a single place in this world I would want to live other than right here. I hope I never have to pick up and leave.
Sounds like you already have a good spot .
America’s history began with Central Asians and Europeans who walked away from Central Asia and Europe.
I say we make the traitors leave...like we did after the Revolutionary war. Sent the Torries and red coats packing. Kicked them clean out. Worked then—will work now.
Texas is starting to look like a nice place to move to. Hope they don’t put up roadblocks to stop those in California fom leaving-reverse of dust bowl days.
California is considering an exit tax for people who move out of the state
The thinking is that these people authorised the state to take on expenses (schools, roads, social structures) and now are not staying there to pay for them.
Texas is forecasted to swing liberal by 2016. All the Mexicans and all the people fleeing states like California.
and we can’t wait for him to leave. Sounds like a consensus. GTFO Doc.
If it gets too bad, Texas will secede. Go to Texas.
I started international travel in 1999, and by 2002, I was living half of my time in central Europe. I left the USSA for good in Jan. 05, back to Slovakia, where I had a great life.
In Jan 2009, I moved to the Philippines, where I have a happy life on a beach, with my new family, and for less then $1000 per month.
There is no way that I would consider going back to the USSA, much less take my family there.
With over 50 percent of Americans choosing a Marxist/Leninist POTUS, the media and educational systems in a full out assault on traditional American values, it tells me that the country that I loved is finished.
The fact that he got re-elected says it all.
Life there will get much worse, before or if it gets better.
By the way, central and south America are booming with new Americans fleeing the Obamination.

Along with the British Empire (or what little is left of it!) and most of Europe.
Sad.
NOT Australia. Minimum wage is $20. They outlawed many guns in the 90s. Socialist state. Everything thing is REAL expensive. Much worse than the US. Not sure about NZ
I dont know any other way to express this but I will try.
This is my country.
I was born and raised here.
Ancestors of mine fought in the Revolutionary War to ensure the liberties we all enjoy today.
Later, other ancestors of mine fought on both sides of the Civil War and the Union was preserved as a result.
My grandfather fought in WWII and his son fought in Vietnam to stop facism and communism.
I owe my freedom to God and to those generations before me who fought, bled and died to preserve it for me.
Therefore I cannot and will not with a clear conscience simply leave my child to suffer a bleak socialistic future when I have now at this time and place, the opportunity and means to prevent it.
I will not leave.
I will do what I must do in order to preserve the Republic that generations of our forefathers fought, bled and died for over the past 200+ years.
If that makes me a criminal in the eyes of the government, so be it.
I will fight if necessary.
Unlawful force used against me and mine will be met with deadly force.
If someone dies as a result of my use of necessary deadly force, it will be justified and my conscience will be clear.
I’ve lived a good life and have no complaints.
If I die preserving freedom and liberty in this country, then that is God’s will and I accept it.
I’d rather be remembered by my future grandchildren as a patriot who fought and died to preserve our country and its freedoms for us all, than have to explain to them why I failed to take any action at all.
I don’t know any other way to express this.
New tagline.
New tagline.
I’m thankful that our forefathers got out of Europe because it was a lost cause. Of course this isn’t 200 years ago.
If a real SHTF scenario happens, that money in your mattress won't help much ...in the bank even less.
Yes, Australia. The standard of education is much higher in Australia than in the US. Sydney, 7 mil + people is one of the most ethically diverse places on the planet has one of the lowest crime rates in the world.
Hope they dont put up roadblocks to stop those in California fom leaving-reverse of dust bowl days.
Just so they don’t treat Californians the way CA treated the Okies during the dust bowl.
LOL. My thoughts exactly.
Despite going off on some pretty wierd tangents... the guy does make some very good points about survival tactics if the country faces some sort of economic collapse. His ranting about evil corporations distracts from the valuable points he makes regarding his experiences abroad and his observations about the societies he lived in and how they view Americans.
Well said.
You might wanna check the gun laws of AU & NZ first.....
I plan to leave the USA and move to the Texas Republic—I hope they’ll have me.
That’s what I’m thinking too. I live in a rural area that is largely social conservatives. Best type of place to hunker down and try to survive.
But it is not currenty believed nor upheld by members of Congress or the Supreme Court. The games we play to pretend otherwise are quite sad. I knew my country was lost with the Kelo vs New London decision of the Supremes and worse, when you consider that 7/9 of the justices at the time of that decision were appointed by Republicans.
I can add to the list, as I am sure you can too. So, my quandary, if the Supreme Court refuses to uphold the Constituion, why bother staying?
Actually Vancouver or Victoria BC aren’t bad.
