I’ve usually got two and occasionally three, depending on which bag I’m carrying.

I carry a couple.

Also a big fan of AOM. Nice to see it linked on here. Good site. Reasonably good message board. Brett’s running a good show over there.

I've carried my Case XX since I was in short pants.

I did get in trouble once in school... for not having a pocket knife in shop class.

This thread made me actually look at it.. The emblem insert on the side is missing, it got run through a washer once too often.

The tip of the short blade has been broken (never loan a knife to a brother-in-law).

It's starting to look positively ancient. It's only 40-odd years old.

Since I am an authentic “jack pine savage”, I always have one, maybe more on my person. I do always change into the dress knife for church, however!

I have many, but one of my favorites for 20 years was a Puma White Hunter which I lost several years ago after field dressing a deer. I thought about replacing it a while back and was a bit shocked at the price now. I like Buck knives—good Christian family founded this fine knife company.

I carry at least two - a single blade Schrade 5" for most rough work, and a Western pen knife which, because the Schrade handles the tough stuff, remains wicked-sharp. I have had that particular pen knife since I was a lad, and plan to have it till I die.

As soon as winter is on, and I am in my muks, I regularly carry a boot knife too, as coats, insulated bibs and such make it hard to access pockets... And since my pants are always inside the muks, the boot knife is easy to get to.

While not a pocketknife, the price ($14) & quality (excellent) of this mid-sized sheath knife make it an outstanding aquisition for oneself or for gifting to right-minded folk:

MoraKniv - Swedish steel, 3 7/8" carbon steel blade, 4oz

*no affiliation .. just a satisfied owner

I just got to thinking and I don’t think I have ever had a bad pocketknife as long as it was a name brand.

At one time I thought “Tree Brand” or Arbolito was the best one for the money. Buck is a good knife tho a bit hard to sharpen at times. I believe Puma has got the right combination of ease of sharpening, edge holding and resistance from rust.

Case XX are great but I think a little high. Schrade used to be a good buy. SOG was at one time great but they seem to have gone down recently. I like a lot of Gerber designs.

Like I said all name brands are good.

My Father carried and used a Queen Steel pocketknife until he died. I don’t know which one of my siblings got it but it was literally worn out.

I always thought Queen knives steel was just a bit soft. They were one of the first stainless ones but then again, the one Daddy had stood up to a tremendous amount of use.

The only man lower than one who does not carry a knife, is one who needs to borrow YOURS!

I tell them; “Ask your mom, she’ll probably tell you you’re old enough to have your own.”

Loaning tools is a good way to end up having to buy new ones.

When I was a kid my grandfather told me everyone should have a pocket knife. He gave me my first. Carried one ever since.

Good post. I was taught always to carry a pocket knife, and always did... Until I had the quite traumatic and infuriating experience of a TSA officer relieving me of a custom-made model. It bothers me a great deal that knives are not allowed on airplane carry-on, and are likely to be stolen on international flights when checked. (1 SCUBA knife and another “piece” lost that way.) I wonder if the folks at VICTORINOX or Spyderco have the moxie to petition Congress from K Street to repeal these ridiculous, draconian, Orwellian standards. Ronnie Barrett also makes knives, and they are magnificent.
