I've managed union work forces in manufacturing for many years. One thing for certain is that most of the rank and file are entirely and hopelessly clueless about the economics of running a plant. And union leadership is almost as clueless.
So the leadership is clueless, marketing talking points to the even more clueless. So 18,500 people lose a job. The union business model is broken and they don't even know it. Even thuggery can't outsmart economics in the long run.
They will probably demand new laws to create a new math. Wait, they tried that before.
