Walmart posted their Black Friday sale and they included this Savage 12-Gauge.
Never can tell when that extra 1/2” of barrel will make the difference between life and death. ;)
A pleasure for sure.
What ever you decide to get, learn everything about it, fire it to become familiar and capable with it, and then pray you never need it.
All the best!
I have the Stoeger P350. Nice gun, but if you don't pump the action aggressively, and I mean aggressively, it will jam.
I have a butter smooth Winchester Model 12 from 1938 and it will let you know if you’re not shucking it right. Those crazy pump guns.
Some people do like them but not me. I like the pistol grip but it also has to have a butt stock.
I think this has more to do with a persons size and how it is handled. At 6' and around 265 I shoot my pistol gripped Mossberg 500 with one hand just like a pistol with just about any load. Recoil is not a problem for me but I do see it with smaller framed folks I know.
Recoil seems to be very subjective. I am 6’3” and weigh 295. I taught skeet at a major Southern University for two years. Some shotguns really kick me, for instance the Benelli M1 Super 90 and Browning A5 both kick me really hard.
Years ago I had a good friend who I did a lot of shooting with. He was about 5’7” and probably weighed around 150. I remember he bought a new model 94 commemorative with a curved brass butt plate.
One day we were out at the range our gun club owned. I brought a Sharps 54 caliber black powder rifle. He thought the model 94 hardly kicked at all but the sharps kicked him brutally.
I had just the opposite reaction. The model 94 hurt my shoulder but the sharps seemed to just give me a gentle shove.
Another odd one is my Daddy’s old Essex single barrel 12 gauge. It is light and should really kick but for some reason it doesn’t bother me.
I've always said "No way", but I just might find myself in an early morning Wal-Mart line. LOL.
The 1300 may have been discontinued but FN still makes that action in some pretty expensive models.
It does not have the solid feel when racking the action as it locks up much like the ARs. It has multiple lugs on the bolt which turn into recesses in the barrel not in a barrel extension as in the 870 etc.
The system is extremely reliable, maybe even more so than the 870 and that is saying something.
A few reviews posted here: http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/37_973/products_id/78648/Stevens+320SEC+12GA+18.5+CYL+PG
On the right side of the barrel, it is stamped: MADE IN PRC (People’s Rrpublic of China). Spend a few more bucks and get a Mossberg or a Remington 870. Made in USA
Cool. Thanks for the reply Dogpatch. :)
