The betrayal of conservatives over the last 50 years

Over the past 50 years, conservatives have been abandoned and betrayed by fellow Republicans, folks on our side or the right-wing media and blogosphere and as a result only twice in the past half a century (the two terms of Ronald Reagan) has our side won the ultimate victory. In that light here are the ten most egregious episodes that deserve their own Hall of Shame and which conservatives should not forget whether Mitt Romney wins or loses.

Inherent in each of these episodes should be the basis and foundation for conservatives to throw off forever the yoke of COLONIAL MENTALITY and declaring like the Patriots of 1775 they they are free and autonomous, no longer will behave or bow and scrape like serfs and no longer want to be bound to "the mother country", namely the GOP establishment and its RINO craven representatives in Washington who continue to work against the best interests of conservatives and to thwart conservative initiatives and solutions.

1)Destroying the political career of Sarah Palin and convincing conservatives that Palin's impact on the midterm results was minimal or peripheral and then after the midterm election abandoning Palin on the political battlefield to be assailed by her enemies while accusing her falsely of aiding and abetting murder after the Tucson incident with Gabby Giffords.

2)Conservatives not doing their due diligence on Chief Justice John Roberts or allowing themselves to be hoodwinked by "his credentials" backed up by the Bush White House, who voted to retain Obamacare. Because of the ramification of his deciding vote on the SC this could become the great betrayal of the conservative movement in the history of America.

3) Bush 41 voluntarily abandoning Reagan conservatism and purging conservatives from his administration after he was elected in 1988 (to Reagan's 3rd term) based on the political goodwill built up by Reagan, eventually imho causing the GOP presidential nominee over the last 5 elections to only win the popular vote once. 2012 may be one in six. In essence conservatism has been consigned to the wilderness for a generation due to the actions of Bush 41.

4)Fiscal irresponsibility of the Bush 43 administration and the Republicans in Congress which increased the deficit and national debt making it harder for conservatives to make the case the GOP is the party of fiscal discipline.

5) Enough conservatives betraying their principles and convictions by voting for Mitt Romney in the primaries in 2012 and in turn selling the conservative movement down the river as well, the movement vowing four years earlier not to nominate another moderate like John McCain.

6)Forgetting about or ignoring the conservative legacy of Calvin Coolidge and how great a president he was.

7)Prominent conservatives, Republicans, RINO's ignoring or dismissing the results or lessons of the 2010 midterm election not only helping Obama to win a second term but also weakening the conservative movement during this election cycle to the point that the TPM was not invited to participate in the GOP convention and Sarah Palin was declared persona non grata and now both are on the outside looking in. This is no accident. Conservatives were prevented from leveraging the results of the 2010 election to pursue greater glory.

8)Both John McCain and Mitt Romney going overboard to handle Barack Obama with kid gloves and not being nearly aggressive enough politically in calling him out for his failed socialist policies. Both presidential candidates are loath to thrown the knockout punch.

9)The GOP powers-to-be still 50 years later claiming that Barry Goldwater lost the 1964 presidential election overwhelmingly because he was a conservative and NOT because of the Kennedy assassination and that the nation was still in mourning, benefiting President Johnson.

10)The Republican Party and prominent conservatives not affirming in 2012 or even denying that Ronald Reagan was highly instrumental in bringing an end to the Cold war and the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 due to the foreign affairs and national security policies he pursued in the 1980's.

There are probably more episodes but I think you get the idea. Do you know how you can judge whether someone is a rock-ribbed, genuine conservative or not? Ask them what they think of my 10 points and see how many they agree with and how many they disagree with.

Agree- + your #9 re; Goldwater is right on. If Kennedy isn’t killed, Goldwater wins that election. Bay of Pigs, Berlin Wall, Cuban missile crisis,Khrushchev embarrassing him in Vienna. He and Johnson weren’t going to be able to “steal” the election as was done vs Nixon in 1060
