My conservative intellectual hero Professor Jacobson even went so far as to call those of us who aren’t doing cartwheels in our county precincts as “Eeyores” the famous Winnie the Pooh character who is always grouchy and negative. We don’t hate Paul Ryan. We are just realistic that Ryan’s role is nearly irrelevant not only in the election, but in the future Romney administration should that come to pass. Has Joe Biden really made a difference in appeal or policy to Barack Obama? Have you read the stories of the Clinton White House and how little Al Gore was even consulted after the initial “partnership” of failed initiatives like the government modernization efforts wore off? There is only ONE President.
Perhaps I should have done what Dick Morris did in gushing fawning praise about how “smart” he is before admitting that this hands Barack Obama a Christmas gift. In his daily video, Morris admits that this likely now takes away the crushing focus on what Obama has done on jobs and the economy, and moves it to one on a much tougher sell on entitlement spending.
So if I’m an Eeyore, then I think it is fair to call everyone elating in the Paul Ryan pick, ”Pollyanna’s.”
As I pointed out, not only do I think Paul Ryan is a qualified “conservative” I’d rather have him for President than Mitt Romney. I could even get excited about Paul Ryan. As VP, he won’t even in the first rung of advisers to Mitt Romney, who is using him to continue his 8 year attempt to cover up the most liberal governorship in Republican history.

The ONLY way to defeat Obama for a second term is to elect RINO Romney. If you can show me another legal and practical way to prevent a second Obama term, why, then I’ll reconsider voting for Romney. Until then, I’m voting for Romney and am urging all non-koolaid drinkers to do the same. Heck, I’ll even urge the koolaid drinkers to put down their cups and vote for Romney too.
Our nation will not survive another four more years of Obama. It MIGHT survive four years of Romney.
It's very sinister. Romney in his first act, has removed a key fiscal conservative from Congress and put him in a do nothing job. And in the process he's seems to have galvanized much of the right behind him. And drawn etch-a-sketch lines in the sand to campaign on.
Disclaimer: I plan on voting third party for Goode. Have mixed feelings about Ryan. Appreciate he's trying to reign in the fiscal madness. Think he's short sighted by attacking entitlements first instead of addressing the economy. And I still don't see a coherent plan addressing the economy. Cutting taxes and regulation is not the main problem and won't fix this.
There a couple of DUers who regularly post saying how they get a kick out of constantly causing division on FR by sneaking in and dissing Rooney. The rest of DU seems to get get a pretty big hoot at our expense with their antics. FR is getting powned.
The VP role is as relevant or irrelevant as the President chooses to make him. Cheney had quite a bit of imput into Bush’s decisions.
