I know Romney's not a hit with Freepers. Truth be told he was FAR from my first pick as well. BUT...

Hear Hear!

May I borrow this form to use on all the ABOs that try to coerce me into voting for Mitt? This is fantastic! It's the absolute truth but I doubt they'll admit it.

Voting third party will ensure another Obama term.

Have you been following the news, tuning in to conversations of Democrat/liberal friends/family, or reading comments on MSM news sites after positive Obama stories?

FRiend, there's a very high probability that a whole HELLUVA lot of Democrats who voted for Obama last time around, are going to abandon him at the ballot box this time. If there's ANY year to risk the consequences of a 3rd party vote, this is the year. If narcissist Obama managed to get re-elected, it would probaly be on such a miserably embarassing plurality that he'd get scarely more than one in three in the popular vote. He'd be humiliated, he'd be a mockery, Republicans in Congress would read the tea leaves of Romney being kicked to the curb and turn hard right, and there'd be a much better chance that Obama would be dominated and snubbed and held back.

And two years later, chances would be even BETTER that Republican seats would increase in a big way in Congress.

The price of voting to prevent a popular mandate (the reason I'll be voting third party) is that I forfeit the chance to influence whether the Democrat or the Republican gets the White House. The price of voting "against" Obama ala ABO is that it is a vote for government tyranny at the head of the Republican party.

I know which price is too high. See my tagline.

No, You made a ‘point’ that had nothing to do with anything. Reagan admitted his mistakes. Mitt sees nothing wrong with his.

Look up what Ronaldus had to say about standing on principle if you want to quote him. Of course that blows the ABO position apart...

I’ll vote for the least collectivist candidate AS LONG AS I’M ALLOWED TO.

Brilliant post, Norm. Think I’ll copy and paste that into a few rebuttals to integrity-challenged Freepers (with your permission, of course).

By all means Windy ;)

I wish everyone would post it EVERY TIME the ABO argument is made on every thread.

Rub their freaking noses in the reality of the situation.

Okay, so slavery was a moral sin. Certain founders chose to allow the practice to continue in this new country because they could not reach a concensus to declare our independence from the King.

They decided to fix that problem later, and the country/slaves did pay dearly.

But this country would never have existed without that common sense compromise. It just was not going to happen. So they made a choice. Should John Adams and others have stuck to their principles and said it’s all or nothing?

For me, it’s like that. This country will be so damaged with another obama term......less so with Romney. It’s up to US to save what we can now, not wait for someone better in four years.

It would have saved about 600,000 lives.

You missed the point my FRiend, not me. Cause and effect.

Whether Reagan regretted his mistakes had no bearing on their impact on promoting Abortion or promoting Amnesty.

I'm not arguing the Vote for Romney or Vote for the Other Guy by default discussion. I will do what I feel is best and you will do what you think is best. I just wanted to add some information to this Thread that was not out there.

I have had quite enough of this. Que Sera Sera.

Any suggestions on the best method to deal with extortionists? If you give them what they want, they just keep coming back for more.

Wow -- is that a post that lives up to the screen name, or what!

Tac, I take it you're not inclined to vote for Romney because you're tired of the extortion and ever increasing consequences. I know I am -- Schwarzenegger taught me a lesson -- the next one up was Meg Whitman, and Jerry Brown beat her, even though I chickened out and voted for her. Served me right for falling for the ol' extortionist ploy again, especially as I know that Whitman would have been as bad in her way as Brown -- at least Brown is a Democrat and his party will get the blame.

Thomas Jefferson foresaw the destruction that would come on this republic because of the compromise on slavery decades before that destruction was wrought:

"God who gave us life gave us liberty. Can the liberties of a nation be secure when we have removed a conviction that these liberties are the gift of God? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, that his justice cannot sleep forever...Nothing is more certainly written in the book of fate than that these people are to be free." -- Thomas Jefferson

So, the question is, just how much destruction are you willing to heap on your children and grandchildren in the name of political expedience?

At some point you have to stop compromising the core moral principles of the republic, or this republic isn’t going to make it.

I hope y’all don’t wait too long...

>”at least Brown is a Democrat and his party will get the blame”<

Living in CA myself I have to tell you, that is the funniest thing I've read today. There is no such thing as “blame” here when the Democrats are running things.

Sixteen Billion in Debt, that will increase to Twenty Billion or more if the Voters, not necessarily the Taxpayers BTW, reject Brown's Tax initiatives in November. They already built the “expected” Revenue into the Budget. Bernie Madoff would be green with Envy.

And if Romney wins, you can tell your own grandchildren that YOU voted for the guy who led the Republican party in the enactment of all the things that enslave them, including but not limited to:

-- government-run health care with tax-funded on-demand abortion,
-- forced accomodation of the homosexual agenda everywhere from adoption agencies to the Boy Scouts to the military
-- global warming legislation that surrenders American sovereignty to international oversight because, as Romney said, "Any carbon plan has to be worldwide in scope. Let's have a worldwide solution, not an American one" (CPAC, 2008)
-- activist judges on the Supreme Court to bastardize the law enough to support the enslavement of your grandchildren

Yep, BwanaNdege, you can PROUDLY tell your grandchildren that you voted for all that because you were just too afraid to face down liberal tyranny in the form of Barack Obama.

You have no idea the amount of restraint it took to take a deep breath and let some other freeper point out the genius faux pas.

I would have been much less polite and felt bad (maybe) later.

Thank you.
