(AmericanThinker.com) The California legislature continues to act as the hard left's petri dish for testing totalitarian policies. AB 1678, introduced last Tuesday, would ban mobile food and beverage trucks within 1,500 feet of elementary and secondary schools. ... The "no vend" zones would look effectively prohibit mobile food trucks from almost all of California's urban and suburban cities.

Union cafeteria goons are pushing this

That was my first thought. Once again, the union goons are succeeding with the "for the children" argument. Last year, they pushed through a law banning the sale of alcoholic beverages at automated check stands, saying that the law was to prevent children from buying booze. But the law seems to have been aimed at stores such as Fresh and Easy, where customers make purchases at automated check stands rather than having to stand in line to buy from unionized clerks.

This is all a joke. The kids beline for 7-11 or Quick Stops after school and load up on goodies. Mrs. BOzo is way out of touch.

Refried beans is a right in LA.

The minority illegal alien lobby is going to flip.

I’ve witnessed hostility among the vendors who encroach territory.

This is not going to be pretty.

It is a liberal trick, which they’ve also used to take away gun rights. 90% of most cities are within 1500 feet of a school.. It is a backdoor way to eliminate guns, or food trucks, or whatever liberals don’t like by claiming it is for school safety.

When I lived in the city of Detroit, there were no schools within 1500 feet of our home and those schools are still there. Elementary, Intermediate I walked to and High School Pershing, (still there) I had to take public bus to get to it.... but I do admit its a silly law about guns, but food trucks can hide all sorts of drugs put into sandwiches for the kids to purchase...Detroit at that time was the 4th largest city in the country...and a lot of schools have since been closed due to lower numbers of students.....but don't know how it is with other cities...

Venders just seem to be too much of a temptation to deal drugs...

Take a look at these two examples. First, Sacramento, which is a smaller less dense city. At 1500ft, roughly off the city is covered.

Now take a look at this link which has a map of San Francisco, a very dense example, with a 1000ft radius drawn around each school. you can imagine extending that another 50% to 1500 feet, and the entire city would be off limits.

Yikes, that looks like they could use some consolidating...but then again, its California, the land of fruits and nuts....they do love to tax also....about 10 years ago my girlfriend and I went to visit her daughter in San Diego, the cost of homes is outrageous...a little 4 room bungelow was almost 1/2 millions dollars not too far from her house. It had Living, kitchen and 2 bedrooms with a sleep on back porch....about a 70,000 thousand dollar home in Michigan....I was looking at some homes to maybe move. Not at those prices...
