A school in Forest Hills, Michigan has a new policy: no Smarties and no Pixy Stix under any conditions.
According to Principal Nancy Susterka, she was walking around the middle school and noticed Smarties wrappers on the ground. She then heard a rumor that kids are "smoking" them. Putting her facts together, she quickly banned Smarties and then Pixy Stix for good measure.
As she put it: In short, we have seen huge numbers of Smartie wrappers throughout the building and heard some rumblings about kids smoking it.
Ms. Susterka further explained in an email possible health hazards of smoking Smarties: "The candy is crushed and then re-rolled into a cigarette looking type object, they are inhaled which can cause infections, chronic coughing, choking and even maggots feeding off the sugar coated area in your nose...
"The bottom line is this isn't good and there certainly aren't any nutritious benefits from the consumption of this candy."
In the end, she concluded: While this isn't a drug, practicing the behavior of inhaling can be attributed to the use of other inappropriate substances and I want to keep our kids healthy and safe.

maggots feeding off the sugar coated area in your nose... Clearly the school's policy of "no smarties" is working. Sheesh! what an idiot!

Those that cannot do, teach.
Those that cannot teach, become principal.

The principal didn’t understand her own principle.

The list of banned products gets longer and longer. Manufacturers need to hire some smart attorneys and find a way to sue these ban happy officials.

The home economics classrooms were shut down after a student was found with a five pound bag of a white powdered compound that looked like cocaine. After it was explained to the principal that its street name was "flower", she then decided it must be heroin which is made from poppies.

Forrest Hills used to be considered a good school system. It appears that’s no longer the case. Sad.

More like round Pez.
Which makes me wonder whether they’ve also banned Pez.

So, she didn't confirm the rumor - she just reacted.
i wonder how she would handle the “rumor” that poor education results are caused by poor teachers and school administrators? Would she immediately fire poor teachers and administrators?
IMHO her actions are another proof as to the causes of the problems we see in our education system and society in general.

LOL. Anyone snorting or smoking a Smartie or Pixie Stick is already so stupid that they won’t have their abilities impaired by any subsequent drug use that results.

My daughters had a principal who would lecture and give detention to girls who wore overly revealing clothing. The principal dressed like a lady of the evening herself.
Typical of the "do as I say, not as I do" hypocrisy which kids can see right through, if you'll pardon the analogy.
