The Obama Administration says that "this shows the need for healthcare reform! Anthem Blue Cross must justify the increase!" California insurance regulators asked Anthem Blue Cross to delay controversial rate increases of as much as 39% for individual policies, hikes that have triggered widespread criticism from subscribers and brokers -- and now from the federal government. In a rare step, the Obama administration called on California's largest for-profit insurer to justify its rate hikes, saying the increases were alarming at a time when subscribers face skyrocketing healthcare costs.
Well, the first thing I have to say here is that the Obama administration and Democrat Congress/Senate have steadfastly refused to allow interstate insurance health care sales - left to the states, in fact....Now, they want to curb a company in an individual state? Where’s the interstate commerce clause on this they use for every goddam freedom grabbing law they pass, huh? They can punish on Medicare reimbursements, but even that is punitive for just one state, one company....this whole healthcare/government is a contradiction in sanity....
You know how we’re told that the poor, uninsured and illegal aliens use the ER as their primary care physician? You know how we’re told that it doesn’t really cost the state, hospital or the insured that it has nothing to do with the rates they pay?
It’s a lie.
You can thank millions of uninsured and illegal aliens for this rate increase. Millions of uninsured receiving treatment for free increase the rates for those who are paying to receive treatment. Have to make those costs up somewhere right?
Guess what, the insurance companies are merely passing along the cost of their doing business.
You want to lower the costs? Permit more than 6 private insurance plans to do business in California.
You know, the health insurance companies want to become the next “utility companies”.

Blue Shield of California’s rates are higher than Anthem Blue Cross even with their rate increase. All they are doing is brining their coverage in line with the rest of the market.
This socialist bastard has NO business sticking his nose in private enterprise!!! He has already nationalized the auto and banking industries—insurance companies are next.

Well isn’t this convenien for Mr. corpseman ohbummer! At the exact moment that the dastardly ohbummercare is going down in flames, an insurance company in CA raises its rate shockingly two fold. Now doesn’t this seem extremely unwise on their part and counterintuitive??? Perhaps not. The insurance co.s were awfully quiet throughout the healthcare wars.
This rate hike IS A RUSE.... just a ruse from ohbummer’s traveling dog and pony show!
Tennessee has joined several other states in trying to pass a Health Care Freedom Act. NO COLAs for granny, retired Military or retired fed employees. BIG NEW fees for Tricare for Life retired over 65 Military's secondary health ins. (DOD bill already passed, delayed but goes into effect 2011)

BINGO! Your HMO or health care insurance has free healthcare for illegals buried in there. You are paying THREE times. Your policy, extra costs for illegals buried in your policy and your taxes for medicaid for illegals.
Seniors and baby boomers who voted for Hussein and Democrats deserve the dog food he wants them to eat and the destroyed retirement plans baby boomers are going to get. Enjoy suckers. Sad for the rest of us too.

We started with Blue Cross about three years ago. Our rate then was under $500. With the yearly hikes and this new hike, it will double.
I detest insurance companies, banks and communists. Unfortunately, they have found comfort in each others’ beds of late.
I will be looking for other insurance options, but they are limited, as you know.
One more year and I’m moving my family and my business out of California, forever.
And if it's explained to Obama like that, he'll probably think that the rate increases were all fitting and proper.
You have democrats in California setting insurance fees for the assistance to Democrats in DC trying to take over the insurance industry.
There is NO POSSIBLE WAY rates are being raised across the board by 40% year over year. NO WAY IN HELL.
So what is the truth about the average, median or mean rate increase? I don’t know. I can’t find it, because everybody just wants to report the maximum 40% increase that is probably at the steep end of a bell curve.
Who is having their premiums increased 39%, and how many of them are their in California?
Where can I find actual FACTS on this issue?

While I am against Obama meddling here, this is an outrage.
A 40 percent jump is MASSIVE and really unacceptable in a time when that likely $100 a month increase will kill many families.
I hope many in California change companies in protest and Anthem goes down.
Anthem is a horrible company and has screwed up Blue Cross royally when they have taken over in quite a few states.
