Cheney: Obama Is Trying To Pretend We Are Not At War
Flopping Aces ^ | 12-30-09 | Curt

A perfect description of the Obama administration from Dick Cheney:

As I’ve watched the events of the last few days it is clear once again that President Obama is trying to pretend we are not at war. He seems to think if he has a low key response to an attempt to blow up an airliner and kill hundreds of people, we won’t be at war. He seems to think if he gives terrorists the rights of Americans, lets them lawyer up and reads them their Miranda rights, we won’t be at war. He seems to think if we bring the mastermind of 9/11 to New York, give him a lawyer and trial in civilian court, we won’t be at war.

He seems to think if he closes Guantanamo and releases the hard-core al Qaeda trained terrorists still there, we won’t be at war. He seems to think if he gets rid of the words, ‘war on terror,’ we won’t be at war. But we are at war and when President Obama pretends we aren’t, it makes us less safe. Why doesn’t he want to admit we’re at war? It doesn’t fit with the view of the world he brought with him to the Oval Office. It doesn’t fit with what seems to be the goal of his presidency – social transformation—the restructuring of American society. President Obama’s first object and his highest responsibility must be to defend us against an enemy that knows we are at war.

Why should he try to portray the United States as at war when he believes, as most leftists do, that our enemy has a valid reason to hate us and to make war on us?

President Obama’s first object and his highest responsibility must be to defend us against an enemy that knows we are at war.

His first object and highest priority is HIMSELF.

The US appears to be so stupid (or PC) that it does not know when it is attacked or when we are at war. One should read how civilizations die. And then pray.

Hey Cheney, I agree with you but it is just one of the many pretentions that the Kenyan (pretending to be an American) has perpetrated. Here are a few more:

1. Married to a Wookie and passes it off as a woman.
2. Offers “transparency” and then completely hides everything (like his college transcripts, bills to be passed, etc)
3. Pretends to have been a Christian but is really a POS Muslim
4. Pretends that campaigning and leading are the same.
5. Pretends to be an athlete but have you seen the girly man throw a baseball?

Could go on and on but waste of time. The Kenyan pretends at everything and unfortunately the only thing he succeeds at is killing the US. Let’s move the clock forward to game on and get done with this POS.

I agree with Cheney!
However he & Bush helped that notion gain get traction by not asking for a formal declaration of war on 09/12/01!
The excuse that a declaration of war is impossible because terrorists aren't a government doesn't wash with me. The USG and the DC NoVA area in general is full of lawyers and other “wordsmiths” who could have come up with the necessary words for a formal declaration of war.

I was once told that due to nuclear weapons there will never be another formal declaration of war because it activates everyone's alliances thereby creating an extreme situation. Without one, alliances can be honored in varying degrees including not at all. It seems to make sense and even though the declaration would be against a terrorist organization, I assume it would extend to countries involved with them which then activate those alliances.

I think it may have been a prof of mine who said it, but I just don't recall. However, I defer to anyone who has a much better knowledge of international law and alliances. I'm just offering that up as an explanation.

I would agree with that when there was the old Soviet Union & the Cold War.
However with the rise of the “non-state actor” (to use political science lingo!) terrorist. The rules are different. In fact I would say they need to be written!
So we should have been bold & wrote "new rules" to our benefit on 09/12/01 we sort of did but not really, in my mind we did it half way! We basically did a sort muddled response to establish the international politico-legal basis for our actions. We did a “Congressional Resolution”, which is nothing more then “political theater”. Now we have the Obama administration and they have ceded the field to the terrorist, now our enemies are writing those rules to our detriment.

Sure. Why not? He's a pretender.

From the Politico article referenced:

A senior Democrat said in response: “It’s telling that in attacking the president and the administration, that Vice President Cheney did not condemn the attack against our nation on Christmas Day.”

Politico reporter does not state whether he asked that 'Senior Democrat' why the POTUS didn't 'condemn the attack against our nation' either. Perhaps he should.
