American Idol And Miss California - That's Heteros 2, Homos 0

Is American pop and political culture shifting toward a more traditional view of sex and gender? Don't ask me the difference between the two as only sociologists understand the mysterious jargon which they have invented.

California's infamous Proposition 8 which sought to legitimize gay marriage last year was soundly defeated, and was an extraordinary defeat for homosexuals because it was CALIFORNIA, the land of "fruits and nuts" as my Marine sergeant explained back in Camp Pendleton. He also advised staying out of Tijuana.

In Miss California vs. Perez Hilton et al. (et al. consists of every person in Hollywood and the MSM)the lovely Miss Prejean easily dispatched the equally unlovely Perez Hilton by just being nice, and honest, something which is quite disgusting to Hollywood and the MSM.

Kris Allen, Christian hetero, won against Adam Lambert, not a hetero, in American Idol's runoff. They are both superb singers, but I would think that Adam Lambert, self admitted nonhetero, hurt his performance by vamping it up a bit too much with the black leather, black angel's wings, black mascara, and black fingernail motif.

Nonhetero Adam even had the vocal support of the more gay-looking Simon Cowell who unbelievably asked viewers to "vote for Adam in the next week's finale."

As much as the media culture attempts to ramrod (excuse the pun) the gay culture down our throats, America is not ready for special rights, including Hate Crimes laws, to dominate everything we do and think. Sorry, Hollywood. Sorry, Mainstream Media. Sorry, Simon.

I just heard a school principal describe on a moderate radio talk show that, 'One of the worse things to call a classmate, and start a fight in school, is to call someone a Gaybo. I hate to admit my naivete, but I am not sure what Gaybo means.

I do know that out of 100 million votes cast last night, about 99 million votes* were cast by teens and tweens who are not big on gaybos.

I do not want to see homosexuals suffer any more than they do (although, it seems a lot of them are riding high socially and economically), but America clearly is not infautated with any group which distinguishes itself by its sexual practices.

Neither do Americans have a hankering for singers dressed in black leather, black fingernails, black mascara, and black angel wings mounted on their shoulders, especially if they are male.

*99 Million is a very bad guess on my part

Teen girls are an important and large bloc of the American Idol voter base. I suspect they intuited that Kris was a more likely and reliable dream boyfriend than Adam. I suspect a certain subset of teen boys thought the same about Adam over Kris. Are the teen girls homophobes? Not necessarily. But they do know what they like.

Is Adam gay? I agree with the poster who intimated that the various public photos of Adam in a standing lip lock with other males his age, who did not appear to require CPR to remain standing, is an important and revealing clue.

As far as I am concerned, Adam has the better show biz presence and his vocal range and musical sense are phenomenal. He may have the most talent in that regard of any pop singer since Freddie Mercury . . . who was also . . . . well, unambiguously (as it turned out) not heterosexual.

Adam's career is secure. He has all of Hollywood pulling for him.

Kris won because he won the biggest voting block. The 12 to 22 year old female vote.

When Danny was voted out last week, I knew Kris would win. I’ll bet 80% of the Danny voters swung over to Kris. People vote for the style they like.

Perez Hilton posted a bland one sentence comment. He must be PMS’ing about this. Backlash?

He is not free to do anything. I believe the top 10 all signed contracts that Cowell’s group gets right of first refusal.

My 7 year old has a crush on him and my 13 year old told her he was gay. So my 7 year old said “I’m going to dress up like a boy and marry Adam Lambert”. I just let that statement go, but I thought it was funny.

What leads you to make unfounded assumptions about Adam’s sexuality?

His own words perhaps?

Kris won because he won the biggest voting block. The 12 to 22 year old female vote.

I'd say the biggest unified voting block was the home state vote. Arkansas accounted for 38 million out of 100 million votes cast in the final.

Idol is not rigged. The phone lines are totally swamped for all four hours on finale nights.

You misunderstand the point of Idol voting. Yes, they could try to limit it to one vote per viewer (though in practice this would be unworkable), but why? They’re not just trying to determine the number of viewers who like a contestant, but also how much they like him. A person who spends hours making tons of votes is likely to be a hardcore fan. Those kinds of fans = $ $ $ .

I got through about 200 times on finale night (compared to previous nights where I was able to get in over 1,000), but some people got in THOUSANDS of votes because they had AT&T and thus were able to text their votes to AT&T’s special numbers. The texters, which as a group are younger with more disposable income , make a huge difference on Idol.

One correction: Prop 8 was a protection of traditional marriage, and it WON

“I think Adam is glad he came in second, because it is just as good as winning for his career, but he won’t be confined to a contract with Clive Davis. He’s free to negotiate a better contract where he can retain creative control”

Oh, no no no.

The ‘yellow ticket’ comes with one giant string; “Sign Here”. 19Management, which owns AI, locks everyone who gets one into a 7 year ‘personal services’ contract. The wording of the contract voids the deal if they dont advance into the top 12 (13 this year).

This is so stupid. It has nothing to do with sexuality. People were sick and tired of the pimping that was going on...That is the only reason he lost. Oh guess what? They did that with Archie last year and David Cook won. Get rid of these ridiculous reasons for his loss. I am thrilled that Kris won but one reason I did not vote for Adam who is the better singer is Katy Perry, Entertainment Weekly and Simon.

Metrosexual = flaming closet queen.

I think “flaming closet” being the operative words.
There are many many pics of him on the internet in
full over-the-top drag wearing metalic minis and
6” platform high heels. Or painted blue or green
with wigs and and exposing too much. He may or may
not have been involved in the “agenda” but his
“image” would have fit right in at an SF Pride Parade.

The kids who do the voting are VERY internet savvy.
No way they hadn’t seen these.

His career is solid. It’s not unusual for a second place contestant to still go on to become a multi-platinum star.

Of COURSE it is! LOL He simply got more and more flamboyant each week, even my hubby said “this guy will end up being Liberace”.

The vote wasn’t a surprise to me. We may not wish to accept it, but this country is still not accepting in the majority of out there gays.

That makes two of us for the exact same reason. I was all jazzed up about Adam until Simon started to do too much slobbering over him. Then Katy Perry sealed the deal.
