The debris described happens to constitute those limited items that were allowed within the perimeter. Had there not been restrictions in place, even more trash would have been stewn along the Mall. I would like to see how this compares to an Independence Day celebration on the mall. Is it really any worse?
Have you ever seen Pasadena after the Rose Parade, or the aftermath of football or baseball game? Same thing. People in general are slobs, it’s not a liberal/conservative thing. We are all Homer Simpson.

From the looks of things, it is also 'accurate'. Understand, it is not the trash on the ground that matters, but the hypocrisy littered all over the place. These people vote for the ones that tell us how we should live, how our very lives hurt the environment, how we are damaging this planet.
On another thread discussing this, there was quote from some mall authority. The quote mentioned the gathering of 'promise keepers' years ago left the mall cleaner than any other event he remembers...
I think the point is that Liberals are supposed to CARE for the environment so much. But they don’t even clean up after themselves.
I’d be willing to bet that 1.5M of the 2M who are reported to have attended are from right here in the Metro area.
All hype notwithstanding:
1. Several of the unofficial inaugural balls had to be cancelled, prices reduced, and generally were not big revenue makes, .
2. When all was said and done, there WERE plenty of hotel rooms available in DC.
3. The grandstands near the White House were all but empty. Again, no revenues there.
Local folks could get to the event for the price of a metrocard or MARC/VRE fare. The only big spenders were lobbyists and the hollywood/media elite.
The hype around the inauguration seems to be ‘all hat, no cattle.’
It’s a damn football game to these people. They don’t realize - yet - that elections have consequences.
Could be- I know a lot of my liberal friends went to the Mall. We left town and spent 4 days in Dewey Beach at my wife's family's beach house.
