2006 Best News Cover Winner The New Yorker (February 27, 2006) Illustrated Watch Your Back Mountain featuring George W. Bush and Dick Cheney Nowadays, news is covered instantly on the Internet and on the talk and news shows, and expanded upon in newspapers and newsweeklies, making it increasingly difficult for anyone to say anything original. Yet thats what Mark Ulriksen managed in this Watch Your Back Mountain cover. Published when the movie Brokeback Mountain was about to be released, Ulriksens image evokes both the smugness of a vice president implicated in catastrophe and the cluelessness of a president incapable of stopping him. The image shows a couple of hapless chaps, prisoners of their fate and unable to alter the course of events they have set in motion.

The buzz is OUT there!I smell Hillary Clinton.
The New Yorker has always been full of Clintonoids, and the Democratic looney-bin convention is just around the corner.
Just in time for the super delegates to switch their allegiance?

http://www.necn.com/Boston/Politics/Campaigns-denounce-upcoming-New-Yorker-cover/1216033142.html
(NECN) - Both Campaigns are denouncing the upcoming cover of the New Yorker magazine.
The magazine shows Obama in full Muslim dress standing next to his wife Michelle, who’s carrying a machine gun.
The New Yorker insists the picture, which was titled “Politics of Fear” was meant to make fun of right wing depictions of the Obama’s.
An Obama campaign spokesperson called the cover tasteless and offensive. A sentiment echoed by the McCain campaign.

There's no other ulterior motive to publish cartoons like this right? They're shocked, shocked, to discover that an editorial cartoon has an agenda behind it?

The New Yorker insists the picture, which was titled Politics of Fear was meant to make fun of right wing depictions of the Obamas. Of COURSE it was. It couldn't possibly be trying to help out Hillary.
