UNSUBSTANTIATED CLAIM:
Ace of spades HQ ^ | September 23, 2006 | unknown

UPDATE... Beginning to throw caution to the wind now. Think this might be legit.

I'm linking to the Free Republic link, as their link is in the original French. Obviously, all unconfirmed, the Saudi police would have no obvious reason to know, etc.

Supposedly died August 23rd, in Pakistan, of typhoid fever. Also grabbed from Free Republic: could we do without CNN experts? 1. The Article Itself. It's not beyond plausibility that the Saudi police may know a little bit about Osama bin Ladin. Why, I've even heard Osama might have allies in the Saudi government!

2. Pakistan's Strange and Sudden Announcement It Was Closing Its Border To US Incursions, And The Signing of a "Peace Deal" With Taliban Remnants and Tribal Jihadis In Early September. This went down Sept. 2 or so.

It had the feeling, I thought, of Pakistan telling us "Contract filled and finished." They'd done their part; they would do no more.

3. Musharraf's Declaration That The US Had Threatened To Bomb It "Into The Stone Age" If It Did Not Cooperate. Although some said this was "old news," I sure didn't think it was. I'd known, vaguely, we'd threatened Pakistan somehow. I didn't know we'd threaten to bomb them "into the stone age" if they did not assist us against their client and creature, the Taliban.

Why would Musharraf make such a dramatic announcement now?

Maybe we should "bomb them into the stone age" just to be on the safe side! I don't trust the Saudi , the Paki or the French government!

Yes, the surrounding behaviors indicate the story may be credible.

Why would Musharraf make such a dramatic announcement now?

He has a book coming out next week. Don't be surprised if you see him on Oprah.

I'll believe OBL is dead when the Muslims hoards go to the streets in mourning. I figure they'll know long before We do.

Note to Muslims, show me OBL'S head on a platter so I can help you celebrate his death, while eating my pork BBQ sandwich.

from NRO's The Corner:

Bin Laden dead...again? [Michael Ledeen]

As Corner readers know, I was told many months ago that Osama died in Iran last December, and is buried there, under a marker carrying a woman's name. In early January, Pakistan's President P. Musharaff announced bin Laden had died of kidney failure, which I took as pretty good confirmation. Meanwhile, there has been no bin Laden video for two years, only audios with a voice that might be his son's. Now French intelligence, which is a serious organization, has leaked a document citing Saudi sources (often not serious at all) saying Osama died recently in Pakistan of Typhoid fever.

I think the circumstantial evidence of his death has been pretty good, especially the behavior of Zawahiri, who sure acts like a number 1, and secondarily the non-appearance of Osama for such a long time. It wouldn't be hard to conjure up explanations for all this, including a desire to convince us he was dead when he isn't, but all in all the most reasonable conclusion is that he's dead.

The misnamed Intelligence Community doesn't believe it, by the way. They think he's alive in Waziristan. And they're quite insistent about that.

Perhaps another reason to think he's dead, eh what?
