George W. Bush: Behind the Headlines

I just finished watching the fox special George W. Bush: Behind the Headlines. It was good to see the all to easily forgotten great moments of his presidency. The oval office speech the night of the attack, the 'bullhorn' speech at ground zero, the tear filled statement talking about our nations resolve in the face of that attack to reporters, telling those who wear the uniform 'to get ready' as we prepared to topple the terror regime in Afghanistan, the Axis of Evil speech, the 'mission accomplished' speech on the Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier, the surprise trip to Baghdad on Thanksgiving Day, and his consistent resolution to this day that terrorism and those who seek our destruction will not win this war and that indeed good will triumph over evil.

The man is not perfect and the Iraq war may have proved unpredictable and more difficult than we might have liked but the overall mission and the guiding principles of the Bush doctrine are correct and true. This nation has a president who has been resolute in his belief that our nation must not sit idly by while terror regimes and their terrorist allies plan and carry out shadow wars against the West and the free people of the world. We see now the truth so simply stated in the Axis of Evil speech. The interlocking networks of terror states and terror organization and the black market in nuclear technologies and advanced missile delivery systems. We have revealed the alliances between old enemies, Shia and Sunni, Islamist and secularist, to bring war and terror against America and its allies. And we have seen the commitment and fanaticism of those who wage jihad for the glory of Islamic fascism. Our faith, our commitment and our dedication to victory much match and surpass those of our enemies. That is the lesson to be learned and the United States has a president who has that determination and resolve to outlast and defeat the enemies of the civilized world, and for that I am grateful.
