Judge Yolanda Orozco, Wednesday canceled a motion by Maxine Waters, to dismiss a libel and slander action, brought by Republican opponent Joe Collins III, The Los Angeles Superior Court lawsuit names 82-year-old Waters (mad max), as defendant.

Last Sept. 17, Waters campaign literature and radio commercials stated, “Republican candidate Joe Collins was dishonorably discharged, played politics and sued the U.S. military. He doesn’t deserve military dog tags or your support,” Collins served honorably for 13 years in the Navy, receiving decorations and commendations,

What about Waters’ calls for people to confront voters they don’t agree with in public places and offer violence? Why isn’t she being sued and thrown out of the Congress for that?
Rats being Rats...nothing new here.
Best of luck to Joe Collins in his political career. His ads against Dirty Waters were great!
Maybe the service branch knew he was getting out to run for public office, and did not want to to give him a full “Honorable” discharge, which would cause him problems as a politician. But it sounded somewhat “shady” to me, so I looked it up-

Per the article, he was given an honorable discharge, and for some reason he had a meeting with Waters staff in 2018 to advise them of this.
Waters isn’t arguing for the motion to dismiss that it is true that he had a dishonorable discharge, but rather that it should be dismissed on ‘freedom of speech’ grounds.
Clarification: “Collins separated from service with the United States Navy as a decorated veteran upon a general discharge under honorable conditions,”
A general discharge is often used where one leaves the service prior to the end of a term. It could include poor behavior, but it need not be and by my recollection isn’t usually.
I know of an enlisted guy who was dismissed “for the convenience of the government”, basically because he was a mischievous clown and too rich for the available punishments to be more than an opportunity for snark in writing them the check out of his bank account.
Mad Maxine's gonna have to pay, or rather, one of her financial backers will.
