It also reminds me of a bit from the (semi-) classic John Landis movie, “Amazon Women on the Moon.” There was a bit from a take off on one of those “solved mystery shows.” - “Using undiscovered evidence, we can now declare that Jack the Ripper was actually... Nessie, the Loch Ness Monster!”
