Trust me I worked in Boston for some time and they bring this crap up all the time and it is they who are still fighting the war whilst putting down the south and southerners.
So much for their Boston lets all get along and tolerance.

Forrest kept several slaves with him during the war. Once war started he told these slaves that if they stayed with him during the war, that he would give them their freedom after it was over. He also told them that if the Yankees won, that they would be free men also. Those slaves served Forrest throughout the war.
I have always noted that publicly professed attitudes in the North, Boston is my experience, are much more favorable to Negroes than in the South but personal relations in the South tend to be much less acrimonious. Southern white men who even use the old sterotype language are more apt to have personal Negro friends than Northerners do. That excepts the hard inner cores of the cities but the cities in the Southland are long term Democrat strongholds as they are in the North.

Another fact that the left ignores is that the majority of the souths Governors and State houses through the late 1960s were DEMOCRATS. They were directly responsible for maintaining the institutions of slavery and Jim Crow. And it was Republicans who broke the DEMOCRAT filibuster against the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

The Colonel, Lt.Colonel and the Majors were white, they appointed by the Governor. The company grade officers of the regiment were black. The 1st Louisiana Native Guards was disbanded in Feb 1862 after the Louisiana legislature in Jan 1862,past a law limiting militia service to white males. Once the Federal forces captured New Orleans about 10% of the 1st LA Native Guards enlisted in the Union Army.
Great point and a fact which will never be taught to kids today or the NAACP would mention.
Why republicans do not mention this is beyond me. They should get out there and tell blacks and the hateful left who was on for civil rights.

Ain’t it amazin’? My great grandfather was a confederate soldier, my father was born in ‘13 and as a boy he knew my great grandfather. My dad used to talk about gatherings of confederate veterans when he was a child, he would use the “n word” regularly and often but had he seen me mistreat a black person he would have been far more likely to kick my tail than if he saw me do the same thing to a white person. I never saw him be anything but kind and respectful to black people and my mother was the same.
If you were to homeschool your children you would not have to wast a lot of time correcting and negating the trash they get in government school. You could be teaching them real math and real English and real History and such. People who care for their kids as more than accessories don’t sentence them in public school.
