Just a general question - There seems to be a meme among lefties that Al Jazeera is an exceptionally "objective" news source. I haven't read Al Jazeera, but I wondered how the hell it has this reputation, even among the addled Left? I had an argument with my (college-aged) daughter over Christmas break about this. She insisted that it, along with the BBC, is very factual. I find this hard to believe, and suppose I should read it myself, but just wondered what you guys thought. I'm SURE there is no objectivity about Israel, for example.
LOL--this is not new. This is how the Arab world has always referred to the Israeli attack on the USS Liberty back in 1967.
I remember a thread about how they were already bashing conservatives in their first few minutes on the air.
So this is still breaking on al, eh? I’ll pass.
There are a lot of US Military servicemen who are angry about that situation ... which they (the ones who are angry) say was intentional by Israel. This is not something just in the Arab world.
I personally don’t hold that view, but I’m aware of other Americans who do!
I think it’s “history” ... :-) ...
There's good reason for the military to be really upset about this. Israel knowingly and repeatedly attacked a US vessel killing 34 members of the crew and wounding 174 more.
This is worth the read:

Not only was AJ trying to out-left MSNBC from day one, it was also airing fake video as “news”

As I said earlier, I don’t hold to it being an intentional attack by Israel, on a US ship. I only point out, in terms of Al Jazeera, that it’s not necessarily “biased” by Al Jazeera to point some of this out, since some Americans think so, too.
I’m only mentioning this in the context of Al Jazeera reporting.
Murdock does the same thing with hot news stories in sending certain “talking points” for his reporters to emphasize on some issue that has popped up. I’m sure all the news agencies have talking points they notify their reporters they want to emphasize.
How many stories are there on Aljazeera are there of the Saudi woman beheaded for adultery, or the Jewish children injured and killed by Palestinian rockets, or the jihadi suicide murderers around the world?
In addition to the ramifications of what has been said about the network’s sympathies, let me also specify that this station is a vehement supporter of the actions of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, and a supporter of the former president Morsi, who was about to make himself an Islamist despot and whose neglect and actions helped foment mob violence against the Christian Coptic minority, who have been subjected to social diminishment, threats upon their lives, and destruction of their property by radical Salafists in cahoots with Morsi who have always aspired to acquire political power, in addition to the debasement of al-Sisi, Egypt’s brave new president, who against the threat of assassination has called for the “rebooting of Islam” and the labyrinthine system of thought that has collected about it. This network does not have the best interests of the Egyptians in mind.
