for “public education campaigns” to “educate mothers” that its likely not a good thing for a mother to drink and breastfeed in close proximity of time to each other is one thing;
to imply, by law, that a mother’s child is a ward of the state, and therefor a mother who has a drink and breastfeeds is committing a crime is another matter altogether, and an idea that should be opposed
My 2 pennies...
Many mothers have trouble with their “let-down” reflex. There are little muscles that surround the nipple tissue that have to relax in order for the milk to flow freely from the milk sacs down through the nipples in order for the baby to get the milk.
It can be quite painful fore the mother, if the baby is sucking hard, and the milk isn’t letting down promptly, particularly in the early weeks of nursing, when nipples are tender, swollen, and sometimes cracked.
The old prescription of a beer (rich in B vitamins), or a glass of wine aids this relaxation.
Now, how long it takes for alcohol, metabolized in the liver, to actually get into the mother’s milk is a good question to ask. I doubt it would be in the milk stored in the breast, since this was created before the drink has been metabolized.
Obviously a mother who drinks all day long isn’t going to do her baby any good. But, during that fussy period so many babies seem to get at dinner time, making a new mother very tense, a drink might make all the difference to the baby, and in the event a little alcohol got through, might help relax the wee one as well.
Probably more than you all really wanted to know about the process of lactation. But consider that farmers play soothing music in the barn during milking for much the same reason.
People are so uptight these days, minding everybody’s business but their own. Pretty soon some of you will be piling on this poor mother for feeding her baby in a restaurant, instead of going into the dirty bathroom!

What kind of boob calls the police over a mother breastfeeding her baby and having a beer or two? As for the cop, arresting the mother was udderly ridiculous. I’m glad the deputy city attorney was sensible enough to nip this in the bud rather than continue milking this case.
Just a sucky story all around.

So Cons should see that about 95 percent of social issues that bug conservatives today, were and are enabled solely by government, not to mention all other manifestations of stupid crap like *%^#!!! car pool lanes in So Cal that are just plain lunacy, reducing functional ability by 10 to 30 percent. The ONLY reason they're there is because of government. PERIOD. The state takes federal money to keep the infrastructure, but a condition of getting it is to build *^&%*@#!!! car pool lanes and all the special off-ramps and bridges and special exists and gazillion dollar *^&#!! horsesh*t it entails ...

It used to be common knowledge among the immigrant German community in the US that nursing mothers should drink dark beer. The combination of dense carbohydrates would help her generate milk (as the saying goes), and a little bit of alcohol would help to calm her baby.
For some helpful person to challenge this advice would not be appreciated, especially by the nursing mothers who *liked* their bottle of beer.
