No one is going to remove a sitting president on his second term. Can you imagine the absolute chaos this would cause?

Well, in 1974, Richard Nixon, a sitting president in his second term (having won that second term in a true landslide election), would have been removed via impeachment had he not resigned first. The vice-president at the time, Gerald Ford, was sworn in as president. And there was no "absolute chaos" to speak of.

So it has happened before.

Yes. Nixon was forced out of office, but I think you’re mistaken if you believe this is a similar situation.

For one thing, Republicans have principles. If Obama was our guy, we’d generally support impeachment if it was proven he’d lied. Democrats, on the other hand, will back their guys in almost all cases. If they’re forced to act, they’ll do the bare minimum to punish a Democrat transgressor and restore him or her as quickly as possible.

Secondly, Republicans don’t normally resort to violence to get their way. President Obama is a member of a minority that frames many issues in racial terms. That minority will likely see any impeachment attempt as a racist attack and will respond with violence. Think large scale riots and potential civil war (assuming impeachment gets past the senate—a highly improbable event).

Thirdly, the media is completely in the tank for Obama. No matter what evidence is found, assuming more damning evidence IS found, the media will frame it in a way to protect Obama. Any benefit of the doubt, no matter how remote, will be given as evidence that President Obama is innocent.

It would give me great pleasure to see The One prematurely leaving office ahead of a boot. Seek justice though the heavens tremble.
