You may underestimate the terminal stupidity of enough of the American people to keep him going to the end of his term.
I have been theaching college students for 35, almost 40 years. The incoming class last fall was noticeably stupider and politically totally out of the loop, unconcerned, frighteningly stupid than even 5 years ago. Their contempt for anything traditional or conservative is appalling.
Yes, scattered among them are more genuine conservatives than in the past, but the main momentum is toward terminal stupidity. They will let Obama get away with murder. They do not even know how to inform themselves such that they know whether things are getting better or worse. They live in a prolonged adolescent bubble (kept afloat by waves of Obama spending for student loans etc.).
Yes, it will crash. But he will blame you and me, blame the Republicans, blame the Christians, blame anyone who has opposed or resisted him.
And the students I am seeing in my classroom will believe him, not me. They despise me. They roll their eyes at me. They are offended that their pretty little adolescent ears have to be sullied by words contrary to the heavenly strains of “All’s Right With the World” as long as we can get rid of those negativity-inducing political conservatives.
“Leave me alone. I don’t want to hear any more about politics, about economics, about Obamanations. I want my head in the sand. I want my Mommy to come make it right.”
“Get out of my life. Don’t confuse me with hard truths. You’re mean.”
That’s what I hear from them.

I’ve noticed this, too. There used to be at least some respect for Christians even if one didn’t believe in Christianity. Now non-Christians are heavily propagandized. I even see it here. It’s like they think Christians are on the verge of creating a theocracy or something.

Most people nowadays are way too busy to think about anything beyond the most simple materialistic matters of life, like what’s for dinner, let’s get drunk, and who do I get to hook up with next. Sin? Why that’s just something backward thumpers use to try and make people feel guilty.
BTW, they aren’t stupid or uneducated. They certainly know far more about worldly things at a much younger age than my generation. They just haven’t spent much time analyzing what they do or thinking about the long term ramifications. Even their popular music glorifies living for today.
And that is the fruit of the Left's long march through the education system. It took them several generations, but the long view has given them a permanent base of Jonestown cool aid drinkers that no amount of information will ever sway.
They despise me. They roll their eyes at me.
