If you don’t fit, neither do I. I’m not Mormon. I’m lifelong Lutheran. But I spent 4 years in Salt Lake City dealing with Mormon influence and know this. Their religion rules most aspects of their lives, it’s antithetical to my beliefs. But that should not be an issue when it comes to the national stage. It shouldn’t for Lutherans, Catholics, Jews. Our nation, the Constitution we hold dear, allows freedom of religion. If we on FR don’t acknowledge that same tenet here, we don’t deserve to exist. It’s part of the essence of the Constitution we claim to honor.

I’ve had my problems with Mormonism, but that has to be put behind me when it comes to this candidate and his religion. We’re at the point where in the next few months we will continue to be a union or we will soon lose our freedom. Anyone holding opposition to Mormonism over national sovereignty is wrong. Flat our wrong, if that opposition is more important than our vote in November.

We have a choice. We’d best think long and hard about what our decision will be. This is NOT the 2008 election redux.

Your disjointed “logic” is oddly captivating.

As for your last comment, I am not ashamed of anything I have written. I simply stated my view based on my history while reiterating my belief that EVERYONE has their own choice to make and should do so according to his/her conscience.

When did I EVER equate Mormonism with Anti-Semetism? In my opinion, you are radically challenged intellectually, and likely dangerous.

Romney will be bound by an increased conservative majority in the Congress.

You really believe that, with Boehner, Cantor, and McConnell running the show on the Hill?

A conservative GOP congress will hold Obama in check

I presume that you are referring to their record in this regard since the election of 2010? What makes you think that this will get better in a second term? Hint: it won't.

No offense, how can “born again” Christians be so holy?

“Through the blood of Christ.

And holy means to be separated unto God—only one way, through Christ.”

~ ~ ~

How can you proclaim “born agains” to be holy when you all
approve of the use Contraception, ???, an intrinsic evil.

Oh yeah, “Jesus’ atonement, He did it all on the Cross”, you’re free to commit grave sin.

You ran from my question on Contraception.

Jim, should everyone with a car, park it or sell it, because the oil used to run them, enriches entire nations of America-hating, Allah worshiping, terrorists? Where does it end? If we avoid everything and everyone that is contrary to the scriptures, we would have to, as the Apostle Paul said, “Go out of the world.” Remember, Jesus said to let the wheat and the tares grow together... He will do the separating and the judging, when He comes.

Great post.

I see a lot of hate and hateful language on here, and it isn't coming from just one side.

I have been on this site and loved it for many many years. Can't even begin to count the number of hours I have spent on here.

I get the sad feeling I am watching it die before my very eyes though.

The fact that the National SOCIALISTS came to power on the support of people willing to throw reason to the wind in order to get out of their then current circumstance seems lost on many on FR as of late.

But then again, these are people who think that your vote for a person does not mean that you support them/their policies.

In short, people are once again throwing reason to the wind and ‘hoping’ for ‘change’. Four years ago, such people were called idiots by the very people who now embrace their ideals. How freaking mindless is that? Abandoning your very reason out of fear never results in a positive outcome.

They won in 1988 and would have done so easily if so many hadn't thrown a temper tantrum against the GOP in 1992. remember that gave us eight years of the Clinton.

Clinton is the only elected two term Democrat since FDR and he NEVER received a majority vote. I intend to keep his legacy intact by voting against Obama and for some R&R.

His own social conservative creds are nigh impeccable. I am a fightin’ fundie not a Roman Catholic, but I concur with the Roman Catholic view of social conservatism in 95+% of cases, the differences mainly being where the theology has not well developed in evangelical circles.

Will the ever waffling Romney finally put his breakfast pastry to rest on social conservatism issues, with Ryan on the team? Excellent question. I sincerely hope he will. I can’t predict one way or the other.

God bless you, Jim. If we had even a half-dozen in DC with your spine, our country would bein a lot better shape.

May you remain unbowed by the voices of politicall correctness - even those masquerading as “conservatives.”

“Obama is given all sorts of extras in his job due to his race.
Frankly he was elected mostly for that reason.
He is most certainly not playing by the same rules.”

Not to mention czars, EO’s, and implementing his statist/racist desires through the DOJ, DHS, etc. There are countless ways for him to screw the country that Congress can’t do jack about.

Respectfully disagree with you.

This ticket is better than Obama/Romney by a landslide. Ryan’s one of us, I think.

You’re right that it ought to be reversed, but it isn’t.

Romney picking him means they know damn well they can’t win without conservatives behind him, and they know Romney doesn’t have them.

It doesn’t mean Romney isn’t going way left after elected, like most other Republicans in DC, but this is worth my vote.

Evangelical theology is marked by a return to the bible, which does not go as far as developed Catholic theology on the question. The Catholic theology sounds admirable, but from an evangelical point of view it isn’t biblical; it is at best a noble conjecture on a matter that the bible is silent about.

Catholics may disagree with evangelicals but they ought to understand why.
