I thought it was Ware too. But he is busy touring the networks and receiving accolades for investigative reporting.

Showed good presence of mind, made his decision without hemming and hawing, and did his duty. Awful easy to get rattled, thing like that.

Lost his right hand, I see. An honorable wound. A proud thing.

I can only imagine what the tenor of this thread would be if this had happened to a reporter who worked for a traditional conservative news outlet.

Folks, if a uniformed person had done this same thing, it would be Medal of Honor material.

BTW, I subscribe to the The Washington Times in case anyone is wondering.

A medal maybe, but not that medal.

I agree, Weisskopf's quick thnking saved his life and those of the others.

Maybe I sound heartless, but I cannot help but think that he, and his fellow journalists are somewhat responsible for these continuing attacks.

There was a story on the opening pages of AOL, about a young soldier who was wounded in Iraq. He said he would go back if he could, and described the positive things that were happening there. He mentioned that the media is not telling the American people of these things, and specifically mentioned the article in Time magazine.

Poetic justice?

I wouldn't be surprised if Weisskopf was with the 101st due to the furor over the Ware and Bennett's article.

He and Nachtwey are clearly Time's A-team.

How many people would just stare at the grenade until it went BOOM? Mr. Weisskopf had presence of mind. My hat's off to him.

A Time magazine reporter suffered severe shrapnel wounds and lost his hand when he tried to throw away a grenade tossed into a Humvee in which he was riding with a photographer and two GIs...

Thank you, Mr. Weisskopf. That is one hell of a thing to do.

I agree with you in Mr. Weisskopf's case.

But just looking at their recent stories on Iraq, I can't help wondering if the grenade wasn't thrown into the humvee by another Time reporter on assignment with the terrorist insurgents.
