Washington News Observer has been established with one mission in mind: to provide fair coverage of news through broadcast quality sound bites, interviews, and event coverage.

Importantly, because WNO, like NPR on the radio side, has been set up as a non-profit organization, we will make no charge for our services. That is part of our Broadcast Content Portal Policy.

Here is how the Washington News-Observer broadcast news service works:

Each morning, WNO news teams will be assigned to cover major news makers or events (congressional hearings, news conferences, major speeches, etc) in the Nation’s Capital.

If the event has breaking urgency, it will be fed as raw footage immediate upon the conclusion of the event. In some cases it will be streamed live.

By 4:00 EST each day, sound bites, stand-ups, interviews, and event coverage will be fed as part of the WNO NewsBreak1 daily feed. Material with broad applicability will be sent nationwide; material with local applicability will be sent to stations directly affected.

At 9:00 EST each evening, newscasters nationwide will be provided with the WNO shooting schedule for the following day.
