My ancestor Olaf Haraldson, the Christian King of Norway, sacrificed his life on July 29, 1030, when he led his small army against a pagan force four times as large. The man who killed him reported that his wounded hand was healed when Olaf's blood touched it. Other miraculous healings soon followed. Within a few years of his death, even the pagan leaders had become Believers, and Norway became a Christian nation (at least until recently). Saint Olaf is the patron of Norway. [Why a Swedish flag? Olaf married a Swedish princess. I'm descended from that side of the family.]
