While her husband was at war, and while her husband and the family battled disabilities decades afterwards - one more ironic question:

New, Important Role Demands Reserve Benefits be equalized with Active duty

By Master Sergeant David McHenry, Contributor, Unite The Military Community

From my experience, as a widow (since 1996) of a 30-year USAF veteran, a native of the U.K., most retired and other eligible are not patient enough. They often do not avail themselves of the requirements necessary for successful military Space-A hops.

For instance, my husband and I (upon arrival at Mildenhall AFB, UK) talked with a taxi driver at the terminal, and we inquired about B&Bs close by.

He informed us that one of his mates had a place where we could sleep, make ourselves a cup of tea or soup, and spend the night in a clean bed. We took him up on it.
