I'm not what you would call a conservative. I started out a bleeding heart liberal at 17. I still believe in private charity, but see that government "charity" fleeces the productive and gives to those with no real motivation to improve their lot in life. I never really bought into Republican neo-conservatism, however, as I think the Gulf War was a cynical PR was designed to get Bush I re-elected. Sick. Then 8 years of Slick Willie, with his constant "humanitarian intervention", culminating in the bombing of Yugoslavia. My wife is a Serb, so I took time to see through the constant propoganda and realized how much the US looks like an empire to foreign countries. In the end, I'm a libertarian. Give me freedom from tax-slavery, and I'll contribute willingly to charity. Give the world freedom from our globe-trotting military.
