Graduate work in Physics at Vanderbilt University, 1971 - 1975.
Joined the Navy as an instructor at the Nuclear Power School at Mare Island Naval Shipyard in Vallejo, CA and the Nuclear Power School at Orlando, FL, 1975 - 1979.
Entered semiconductor manufacturing after leaving the Navy as a LT. Worked for a variety of companies (Texas Instruments, Martin Marietta, SGS-Thomson, Bipolar Integrated Technology, and Advanced Micro Devices)and technologies (hybrids, CMOS, Bipolar, BiCMOS, Flash, High Voltage Bipolar, Gallium Arsenide, Mercury-Cadmium Telluride, alpha Silicon Carbide) as a Thin Films engineer. Responsible for Metallization, Ion Implant, Rapid Thermal Anneal, Epi and CVD processes. Last 10 years was in Process Development and Integration.
