Message to all:
I don't usually post on the internet, and this is probably my last, sorry for replying so late. Honestly, I didn't expect most of you would respond so negatively but it is not my intention to incite enmity and divide people. So I will close this thread, and address a couple of things to give it a sense of closure.
As for the people concerned with my sanity and social life, thank you, I am leading a very healthy life dedicated to self-improvement. Americans are blessed with a wealth of knowledge and experience, Franklin's thoughts on work ethnic changed me a great deal.
As for my political orientation, I believe it is generally the case that people experimented with liberalism before they awaken from the self-centered, convenient and dogmatic dream , and believe me, in the space of a year or so, I learned what decadence means. It is not a very difficult lifestyle.
As a minority and a conservative, you don't really know who your friends are. I will stop here because I too, am fed up with it. But, words may be pretty but what is happening is there for all to see. But, I will say this: Disclosing myself as Chinese, usually make people want to throw in a couple more punches. But it is a fact that I am an immigrant, and I do not intend to hide from it.
What is important here is that for the same reason, minorities fear to be align themselves with conservatives, when they both have plenty in common. There will always be some people who think that minorities and conservatism are antithesis. And this is probably true If your vision of American does not include minorities. But there will always good folks who would pat me in the back here and there and remind me what I believe in and sometimes persecuted for is not wrong and that gives me solace. I understand situation and circumstance of the two countries render complete trust to be unattainable. But the common ground between us is everything from family, honoring our parents and to our sense of justice and decency; our differences: small.
There is a reason I put quotation mark before the paragraph
I am scratching my head and felt deeply sorry if I came off as ranting America. If I don't see a bright future in America, I would not come here in the first place and continue to love this country despite its problems. You wouldn't feel deeply disappointed with something you don't deeply care about. I see serious problems exist, and I am worried... for very good reasons. And that is my way of blurting it all out at the same time (i suppose some of you felt the same way once) I guess people just aren't very comfortable with thought experiments anymore.
I admit i made a mistake preaching to the choir, may be I should post on air america instead. But sometimes people on our side also want to shoot the messengers of bad news. Pcs affect everyone equally. I am not a puritan myself by any means but I hate to see that sex is the only thing most american youth think about, (Don't take my word for it, take a class on human sexuality in a mostly liberal college, Fun) What about the dreams I think the young America used to have--to conquer sky and space, and to work industrially and spread the fragile light of freedom. I know I have no authority to say "what used to be" for I don't know much about history. But isn't "what was", "what is", different from "what ought to be"?
English is the language of America. (thats why I took the "pain" to write to you in english)
But, think of learning Chinese for three years, not knowing their political history, their cultural do's and don'ts and try to write to the natives on the social and political landscape of their country, may be then It would help to understand my difficulties. I again, apologize for my language, if you folks find it difficult to understand. But I do not regret doing it, people need to hear it, History are full of people making the mistake of being the silent majority.
So my friends (Assuming you voted because I couldn't), Thank you all your comments, the directness as well as the south park humor which always had a place in the American Psyche. I guess if you like something, you've gotta love everything about it equally. Most of you are probably older, but don't worry that I may not enjoy the jokes, the pictures and the damn chicken. I am a big boy now and I guess you grow up quicker and learn to read people's eyebrows pretty fast as a Chinese American or a Conservative. And Unfortunately, I am both.
I don't talk like a pussy usually if thats your concern, but sometimes some thoughts are better said this way. Last thought: Don't forget the faithfuls when you stone the hypocrites.
