Hello, this is my email to the American Embassy:
I applied today September 2005 for a TRANSIT VISA..because I have to travel to England (by American Airlines) in October. Your person in charge rejected my application. I brought all the documents indicated in your web page and more that she did not want to see... and just rejected this.
So I want to complaint because in your web page you don't say that to apply to a transit visa is going to be as difficult as a more important visa.... you don't say that people should bring many proofs that you have big bank accounts.... you just say:
the form, the payment of 100 US, the passport, the photo.... and SUGGEST to bring some ther documents to prove enough means....
I didn't have any other problem with my last passport, and I traveled before to the USA before, to Japan, to England twice... without any problem but now your PERSON ON CHARGE rejected my application to be in the airport sme hours on October...
I asked her if I could bring more documents to have this application aproved but she didn't help me at all. I wanted to show her my tickets to go and return, and some other documents to prove my links with La Paz- Bolivia.
But she was just a non-helping person. I FORMERLY ASK YOUR the UNITED STATES EMBASSY to explain clearly IN THEIR WEB PAGE that to get the transit visa is going to be AS DIFFICULT AS THE TOURIST VISA. Otherwise THE UNITED STATES EMBASSY IS just misleading the people who had the mistake of buying a ticket to travel by AMERICAN AIRLINES. This was my mistake and I regret this already.

PS: I have the experience of a friend (who lives in Bolivia) that also had to apply for a transit visa to the United States ...well in fact, as me, he just bought a ticket to travel by American Airlines and later, he realized that he had to apply for an american transit visa... so he went there and they didnt want to give it to him ... even that he showed all the documents proving that he had a bussiness to make in the destination country (which wasn't the USA..) but they were about to reject his application...
then he got angry and asked her: what do you want to know, how much money I have ???
and he threw/showed his credit cards to the woman (some golden ones)
and she said: why didn't you showed me this before ? I am going to give you a visa for four years, go to the USA and spend some money...
He said: no, I don't want travel there
She: Go and spend some money

So she gave him a 4 year visa......

They just care of the money. Keep on mind this when you apply for a transit visa.

La embajada americana y las visas de transito - Bolivia

Si tienen que viajar y American Airlines tiene un vuelo que pasa por Estados Unidos no lo tomen porque obtener una visa de transito para estar en cualquiera de los aeropuertos de EEUU es muy dificil.
La gente de Latinoamerica/ Sudamerica que quiere viajar y tiene que pasar por Estados Unidos tiene que sacar una visa de transito, aunque solo sea para estar ahi una hora.
Pero el problema comienza porque hay que pagar 100 $US dolares para "aplicar"/pedir esto... y el asunto es que la embajada de Estados Unidos en su pagina de Bolivia (y en otras , supongo) no indica claramente que obtener una visa de transito es igual de dificil que tener una visa de transito.... y hay que sacarse fotos, y llevar cuentas de banco y motivos (aunque eso no cuenta para ellos.. porque ni lo revisan, no ?)
Y una vez que le dicen a uno(a) que no es "elegible" para pisar su aeropuerto... y , en mi caso, tratarme mal... sin mayor explicacion... porque la que me atendio era una mujer rubia insipida y agria (tal vez su marido la dejo ? o tal vez nunca tuvo a un hombre ?) ....
Y todo esto por el costo de 200 $US dolares porque la aerolinea American Airlines pedira una compensacion por el hecho de que usted tenga que cancelar su vuelo porque le han negado la visa de transito....
Entonces yo quiero que la embajada ponga CLARAMENTE que la visa de transito es igual de dificil de obtener que la VISA DE TURISMO: y que lo unico que realmente les importa es cuanto dinero lleva en sus cuentas de banco, porque a ellos no les importa si es evidente que usted solo esta de paso en un aeropuerto, ni
si ha estado en ese y otros paises y regresado a su pais siempre.... no les importa nada... entonces para que , de paso, regalarles 100 $US de hacer sentir mal y pasarse el trabajo de conseguir sus requisitos ?
No compren tickets de American Airlines que requieran visa de transito.

Y me pregunto si la antipatia que Estados Unidos crea no esta realmente fundada en este tipo de actitudes ?

Yo prefiero que VARIG que Iberia y que American Airlines porque no veo porque ser del tipo de persona que hace filas para todo... y sacar una visa para pisar un aeropuerto me parece estupido.. y haber sido rechazada es un insulto!

 

PS: Se de la experiencia de un amigo que tambien tenia que pedir una visa de transito ...de hecho, como yo, el compro un pasaje para volar por American Airlines y luego se dio cuenta que tenia que pedir una visa de transit para estar en un aeropuerto de EEUU... entonces el fue a la embajada y no quisieron darle la visa de transito .. ni aun cuando el presento todos los documentos que probaban que el tenia que hacer un trabajo en su pais de destino (no Estados Unidos) ... entonces ya estaban a punto de rechazar su "aplicacion" de una visa de transito...
Entonces el se enojo y le pregunto a ella: que quiere saber, cuanto dinero tengo ???
y el echo en la mesa sus tarjetas de credito (algunas de oro..)
y ella le dijo: por que no me mostro esto antes ? Voy a darle una visa por cuatro anios (o mas ?, no recuerdo) , vaya a Estados Unidos y gaste algo de dinero...
El dijo: no, yo no quiero viajar alla
Ella dijo: vaya y gaste algo de dinero

Entonces ella le dio una visa de 4 anios (o mas)......

A la embajada solo le importa cuanto dinero usted lleva a su viaje. Tenga eso en su mente cuando pida una visa de transito a Estados Unidos
