Proud new homeowner in Kingwood, TX, a suburb north of Houston. I became more politically attentive, and more conservative, during the 2000 elections. I was shocked at the depths the Democrats would sink to keep their grip on power. I believe in the following conservative principles:
Government should be limited.
Following the Constitution, I firmly believe in the tenth amendment: "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

First Amendment freedom of religion, not freedom from religion.
The vast majority of the Founding Fathers were Christian and specifically mention "Creator" in the Declaration of Independence. The words "separation of church and state" are nowhere to be found in the Constitution.

Abortion should be illegal
Based on Amendment IX - "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people." As babies are human beings, all other amendments apply to them, including cruel and unusual punishment (Amendment VIII) for inconveniencing their parents.

Taxes should be minimized
To keep down the size of government, and lessen the chances of their corruption.
