I am a fisheries biologist working with Asian carp. I am located in Mid-Missouri, and although the research that I am doing is mostly located there, it is pertinent to most places that Asian carp will or might invade.
I am working to better understand the biology and life history of bighead and silver carp (and a little work on grass carp too) so that we may better deal with these newcomers. I also have projects underway that give us some hope in dealing with these fish, especially the use of pheromones to attract (so that we can catch or kill them in large quantities) or repel the fish (so that they do not invade new environments (like the great Lakes) or to keep them out of habitats that are critical for native fish.
