My name is Alec Rawls. I am a writer and inventor, swinging a hammer to pay the bills. At some point I will finish a Ph.D. in economics at Stanford. Two chapters of my dissertation are available on my rawls.org website (along with a bunch of short articles). Sample: Want to know how to expand police powers to the permanent extremes necessary to defeat an ever more technologically empowered terrorist threat while greatly INCREASING protection for liberty? Simple. Just protect liberty directly, by placing the full ideal of liberty in the Constitution, instead of indirectly, by placing restrictions on law enforcement. Liberty will be much better protected, while restrictions on law enforcement can be largely eliminated. No, it is not half baked. For the fully baked potato, click on the "Direct Protection" link at rawls.org. I originally set up my website to provide information on my campaign for sheriff of Santa Clara County. (I was running on a "shall issue" platform of course). That is on hold while I sue the State of California over its requirment that candidates for sheriff be members of law enforcement. Info on my suit is available at rawls.org if you are interested. For fun I like to ballroom dance and mountain bike. Contact alec@rawls.org
