I would argue that the bulk of lawyers in the US...have marginally passed their state-bar exam, and have maybe half the skills you would have had in the 1940s/1950s to try or defend a normal case.
I think the TV analytical crowd have come to figure out this comedy of errors...seeing it in NYC, Atlanta, and elsewhere. This even goes to the judges involved and incriminates them as comedians-in-robes.

I don't know, it never stopped them before. It usually seems the farther wrong the better on an issue.
