Joe Biden's debate challenge to Trump was a joke. Despite his projected confidence in his video statement directed at Trump, the terms proposed by the Biden campaign are extremely telling, as they indicate Joe Biden is pushing for debates that are incredibly controlled.
For starters, the Biden campaign is demanding no live audience, which strikes me as odd. Generally speaking, candidates prefer having an audience they can feel like they're addressing directly. Another demand is that microphones be off when it's not a candidate's turn to speak and that they be cut when they go over their time limit.
Oh yeah, and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. can't participate.
The letter by the Biden campaign lays out for the first time the president’s terms for giving Mr. Trump what he has openly clamored for: a televised confrontation with a successor Mr. Trump has portrayed, and hopes to reveal, as too feeble to hold the job. In a Truth Social post on Wednesday morning, Mr. Trump quickly agreed to the two dates proposed by the Biden campaign, although it was unclear whether he would agree to Mr. Biden’s other terms.
Mr. Biden and his top aides want the debates to start much sooner than the dates proposed by the Commission on Presidential Debates, so voters can see the two candidates side by side well before early voting begins in September. They want the debate to occur inside a TV studio, with microphones that automatically cut off when a speaker’s time limit elapses. And they want it to be just the two candidates and the moderator — without the raucous in-person audiences that Mr. Trump feeds on and without the participation of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. or other independent or third-party candidates.

Forget it. Trump should simply come prepared. If Trump can dtay measurer, have control of the facts and avoid being drawn into silly diversions it doesn’t matter what Biden or the moderators do. Trump doesn’t win by making Biden look stupid or by Biden not having his fastball. Trump wins by having his. Trump needs to pratice his answers, be ready and present himself like his life and the life of the nation depend on his performance.

He’s already flown in the guy who prepared him in 2020. He’s doing a lot of prep. I actually hope trump does as well.

Not relevant. Trump is an extremely smart person. If he takes it seriously brings his A game and you think that Biden would be a better President after the debate then so be it. That’s what this is all about.
Also in the terms: Biden does not have to answer any questions. The moderators will answer for him.
Trump is a smart person who looks like an @$$hole, especially to women.
I've found along the way that many extremely successful multi millionaire self made men tend to be self confident and often can be taken as opinionated and curt. They tend to cut to the chase and call a spade a spade, because it saves time and time is money.
I’m not. With that rule, we would have never got “Because you’d be in jail”, and dozens of other responses in debates.
How about an actual debate with NO moderator at all? Today’s “debates” are just joint press conferences where the moderator is a participant and joins the communist in attacking the Republican.
And no audience. They don’t want Trump to bring guests like Clinton’s rape victims. He could do that easily with Biden. Bring in the mother of Hunter’s child and the child Biden does not recognize.
Well...that’s the competition. Each candidate presents themselves tonthe country and the country chooses a leader. Trump has to fo his best, Biden does his best and the chips fall where they may. It used to be something special about the country now everyone wants to sneak into a leadership role with no mandate. Im confident that if Trump gets a fair chance to compete fairly he will win by a large margin. As it stands now, they have him in court 4 days a week and refuse to let him speak live. The Country is far from democratic.
He doesn’t need to ask; with CNN it’ll be automatic.

They have gone from “maybe we will debate” to “we need to debate before early voting starts.”
That’s says everything about how the Biden campaign feels about the polling.
Trump team should negotiate from a position of power and get the terms they want.

His personality is what attracts countless thousands to his rallies. He has a good sense of humor and makes a lot of good cracks at his opponents, he’s fun.
