Mexican leader: Richest in world should pay to help poorest

UNITED NATIONS — Mexico’s president warned Tuesday that the world is sliding from “civilization to barbarity” and called for the thousand richest people, the thousand largest private corporations and the 20 major economies to improve life for the 750 million people now existing on less than $2 dollars a day.

Andrés Manuel López Obrador told the U.N. Security Council that this proposal could generate around $1 billion annually, which should go directly to the world’s poorest people “without any intermediaries, through a card or personalized electronic wallet.”

He said the proposal can be financed with money from three sources: an annual voluntary contribution of 4% of the income of the world’s 1,000 richest people, a similar 4% contribution from the 1,000 largest private corporations according to their market value, and 0.2% of the GDP of nations in the Group of 20 largest global economies.

López Obrador accused the United Nations, with U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres listening, of failing to help those at the bottom of economic ladder, saying: “Nothing really substantial has been done to benefit the poor in the history of this organization.”

“But it is never too late to ensure that justice is done,” he said.

Theft is not “justice.”

Especially when it is perpetrated by government.

The U.N. will of course have to extract a small fee off the top. Like about 95%.

The best thing the rich could do for the poor is create jobs, so the poor could lift themselves out of poverty through hard work.

Oh yeah, take billions from the developed world, hand it to socialists like Andrés Manuel López Obrador Pinche Puto Pendejo and then of course they’ll give it all to the poor and not keep any of it for themselves.

and if they do, what is the incentive for the people of those poorer nations to clean up the corruption that largely is responsible for their nations overall poverty?

And the middle-men who take the wealth, will distribute a fraction to the poor while the middle-men get rich and take child-brides from the poor countries. Who is naive enough to think this will help the poor?

Give me, give me, give me. For free.
How would López Obrador like it if he worked super hard for his money all his life and someone came over and demanded he hand it over by force?
Oh wait, why doesn't he tell that nonsense to the super rich drug lords in Mexico?

So each of those 750 million poorest people in the world will receive an extra $1.33 a year. Should make a big dent in their poverty...
