It implied a national consensus.
It’s rare that something like that can happen again. This may be the last time.
These days Americans tend to hate each other with a vicious malice. There are good reasons for that, but it’s still a disastrous situation. It’s going to get to Hutu-Tutsi levels at some point.
And, it's a not a good thing for bought-and-paid, corrupt politicians to be pandering to the defense industry and wealthy business interest by continuing a war that is needlessly killing people and resulting in the destruction of a country, let alone doing so while ignoring the fact are borders are wide open.
If you think defeating the eviiil Russians is such an important issue, get your sorry, hypocritical ass over to Ukraine and fight them and die doing so. The world would be a better place if you had the courage of our convictions and did so.

Tell ya what, chief. We’ll adopt the immigration and asylum controls that EVERY OTHER nation on the planet has (Australia’s is REALLY GOOD) and actually enforces... The rest of the world is MOSTLY s-—t and a lot of us here would like to keep the s—t over there and not here.
Globalism is useful, up to a point. When the culture you were born into is getting subsumed into neo-feudalism, yeah — the guns will come out at some point and your Rwanda happens. BTW — same root causes — people like to have meaningful input into who it is that shares their country with them.
You can have some tapas and learn how worship Allah — you’re offspring will need to know that. Demographics is destiny, sir. And while you want to make certain you and your cosmopolitan elite buddies can come and go as you please, your citizen of the world culture isn’t mine and the people you force me to deal with aren’t the educated elites you converse with.
