DeSantis says Florida won’t help extradite Trump to NYC after indictment

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said Thursday that the Manhattan indictment of Donald Trump was “un-American” and that his state would not help hand the former president over to New York officials.

The conservative Republican, who is expected to challenge Trump for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination, said District Attorney Alvin Bragg was weaponizing his office by bringing charges after impaneling a grand jury to look into hush money payments to pornstar Stormy Daniels

“The weaponization of the legal system to advance a political agenda turns the rule of law on its head. It is un-American,” DeSantis said on Twitter.

Puerto Rico v. Branstad - The state of Florida doesn't have a choice. I think it's a moot point. If this goes forward, the prosecutors will work with Trump's lawyers.

But will he actively stop them?

Florida may have a choice as does every governor of every red state in the Union.

The red state governors must stand together with President Trump.

How? He has no power to stop them. Also, Trump’s lawyer says he will surrender next week. Do you want to DeSantis to kidnap Trump, and hold him away from his lawyer?

XD XD.

That’s big of you Ron.

If this ever happens to you, I’m sure you would expect no more and no less.

If I was Trump, I’d let them cuff me, and perp-walk me.

The backfire potential of this is hard to overstate.

“How?”

Innovate.

You’re a lawyer Ron. Least that’s what I’m told.

Great... So now NY will see Trump as a flight risk as if he goes to Florida, they can’t force him back to NY. I guess they will have to hold him with no bail. Wonder if the feds can put him in a cell with cameras that shut off..

I wouldn’t.

Once I’m separated from my security, the world becomes a dangerous place. Accidents happen.

We are not taking this seriously enough. And there is no excuse for it.

So you want DeSantis to take a bullet for the guy who implied he’s a child molestor?

Exactly how? DeSantis has no legal power to stop this, and Trump’s lawyer says he’s going to surrender.

Are the states subordinate to the Federal Government?

Also, Trump’s lawyer says he will surrender next week.

As the DS chants, "Crucify him! Crucify him!"

You'd think folks would begin to catch on by now.

Living parables in real time.

Basically, you are saying a non natural born citizen can be president, because you have decided our Constitution is void?

Neither Trump, nor his lawyer said extradition would even happen. His lawyer said he would surrender. So, your are saying DeSantis should illegally kidnap Trump, with no charges, and hold him, without access to a lawyer? How ill that help.

This is a pretty safe play for DeSantis. His proclamation is meaningless, but it sounds good. He could do more (that might touch off a Constitutional crisis of sorts), but the fact that Trump wants the spectacle of being cuffed complicates things. I started predicting years ago that Trump would die in prison.

What should happen is that Florida and/or The People should arrest any New York or federal agents who enter Florida to arrest Trump. If they resist, then extreme stuff would need to happen. It won’t happen. There has never been a successful peasant uprising, and there never will be one.

At least maybe “conservatism” has gotten past tax cuts and “I DON’T CARE ABOUT WHAT IT IS THEY’RE A’DOIN’, SO LONG AS THEY AIN’T A’DOIN’IT IN MUH FACE.” So, at least there’s that. Maybe it’s 40 years too late, but it is what it is.

Nick, I’m not the Gov of Florida, and I’m not a lawyer.

I do something else. And when I need to, I figure out exactly how something needs to be done.

This is because I am not a loser.

Ron needs to innovate for the American system and people like he was hired and is paid to do (and of course campaigned on... they ALL do). If he is unable or unwilling to do that, fine. All I needed to know.
