My dog killed a baby rabbit. If you take on the responsibility of owning a dog, train them well. If your dog cannot live around chickens, etc., take them to the humane society for adoption. Have you ever seen a large pack of wild dogs of every type and breed charging down a hill in a pasture five hundred yards away?   It is quite a chilling thing to see.   You wouldn't anthropomorphize lesser creatures so much if you had seen that.
