Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) convened Tuesday with a trio of Republicans calling for him to abandon his coalition government with Democrats and “come home” to the Republican Party that elevated him to the Speakership.
Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), Thomas Massie (R-KY) and Paul Gosar (R) met in Johnson’s Capitol office for about an hour to continue a Monday discussion between Johnson, Green, and Massie. The group of conservatives continue moving closer to forcing a motion to vacate vote that could strip Johnson of his gavel.
“These are very reasonable requests, especially given that we have a Republican majority,” Greene said before walking into Johnson’s office, noting that since the details had leaked, she felt discussing the state of the negotiations was fair game.
Those requests for Johnson included abiding by the Hastert Rule (majority of the majority must support any bill), no more funding for Ukraine, defunding the special counsels prosecuting Donald Trump, and enforcing the “Massie rule” to pass a continuing resolution later this summer to automatically enact a 1% spending cut.

Which begs the question, did the bulk of the GOPe know that Johnson was really a uniparty operative and that’s why they all signed on so quickly? Look what the GOPe just passed in three major bills and it’s easy to surmise most of them planned this con game all along.

Coalition Government. In France they call it “Cohabitation”.
But Cohabitation is between equals, while Johnson is more like the Gimp in the Trunk.
The entire Republican party is a friggin’ joke.

Anyone have regrets about ousting McCarthy? What did we gain by doing that, considering where we are now?
Yes I know McCarthy was RINO and too liberal for us here on Free Republic, but are we any better off now? Do we really want to pull the trigger again to replace the Speaker?
The sooner the better. The real question is the former GOP or the GOPe going to win long term? The answer is the GOP has been destroyed by the uniparty many years ago and is still getting WORSE if you can believe that. The red wave did not remotely materialize last year and this fall appears to be even worse. In MI we lost both the state house and the state senate for the first time in DECADES, why is this? Because people in deeper red areas no longer turn out to vote for RINOs, when you can’t tell the difference why vote?
Perfect example is my congressman Walberg (MI-5th think Hillsdale area) has always been conservative yet voted for the abominable $1.2 trillion budget, the FISA spy authorization, and the five dozen billion bucks for the Ukes. Same as Jeffries, never.
GOPe knew Judas Johnson was a con the whole time.
Violating the Hastert Rule is worse than Noem’s family dog killing the neighbors chickens.
The bulk of the GOP are uniparty. That’s why you can never get a conservative elected Speaker. 🙄
