Former NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas criticized Timberwolves defensive star Rudy Gobert for missing Monday’s Game 2 win against the Nuggets in their second-round playoff series due to the birth of his baby boy Monday morning.
“It’s a baby, bro. It’s gonna be there when you get back, we hope,” Arenas said on his “Gil’s Arena” show before Minnesota’s 106-80 road win to grab a 2-0 series lead. “I’m just saying, the baby, whatever you think you about to do, he going to be asleep.”
Gobert, the three-time Defensive Player of the Year, was questionable entering Monday’s game after his baby boy was born, according to ESPN.

I’m with Gilbert on this one. I’m old school. You’re getting paid millions? Go to work. The kid will be there when you get back.
Looks like the Timberwolves didn’t need him.

I disagree because an easy birth can suddenly go south. Nothing is certain. And he valued a new life over money.
My nephew goes to school with arenas’s daughter she’s a real piece of work too..
I don’t even think it’s money - he’ll get the same money, either way.
In the end, it’s just a basketball game. A new life and the birth of a son? Priceless and a one time opportunity to see your son come into the world.
Even people with lesser pay are allowed to see their child be born.
In what way? I didn’t realize his children were still that young, or that he lived in L.A.
Maybe the Wolves are thinking long-term, and that when the next contract comes around, it will help to keep him there.
Gobert was planning to fly to Denver but high winds made it difficult. The coaches said Denver sucks anyway so don’t bother.
Denver sucks? They are the reigning NBA champion. They were tied for the best record in the West, a better record (not by much) that the Timberwolves, and they have a player likely to be named MVP of the league tomorrow. In what way do they suck, and I guess the Timberwolves suck more?
Since Minnesota won Game 1, they figured the worst they would get is a split in Denver, which still would have them in good shape. They went out and kicked their butts anyway.
I’ll buy that - but to say the Nuggets suck is just stupid.

As a Jazz fan I had to get that dig in there. I’m joking. The Jazz do suck and it always bothered me that they gave up a 3 time defensive player of the year, now 4.
My wife had 5 kids and I took a few days off work all 5 times. 99.9% of people do, even the women!
In fact my oldest was born on my first day at a new job. Luckily I had negotiated 2 paid days off that didn’t count against my 2 weeks of vacation.
Regardless, the Twolves won. Right now, I would take them to win the championship (if anyone cares about the NBA).
