WW2 Veteran....USS San Jacinto (CVL-30).. Pacific Theatre (43-46) Sorry to say...On Dec. 17-18, 1944..we were in the worst typhoon that cost the lives of 790 (probably more) men, who perished when their tin cans (Destroyers) flipped over during this typhoon....this was just an unbelievable experience...The suiciders were a problem but they were more controllable than the disasters of nature. Did see a Readers Digest of this typhoon few years ago.....FYI.
